Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Tien Giang province - Mr. Ly Van Cam today officially informed about the case of 2 abandoned girls, being raised at the provincial Social Work Center (Center).

Accordingly, at around 6:00 p.m. on February 9, the Center received two abandoned children handed over by the People's Committee of Ward 5 (My Tho City).

Because the children were still young and could not be identified, in the reception minutes on February 9, the Center named them Nguyen Ngoc Xuan Mai and Nguyen Ngoc Truc Dao.

On February 12, Ms. LTTM came to the Center and admitted that she was the biological mother of the two children mentioned above. Ms. M. said that the children's names in the birth certificates were NLNV and NNB, and their births were registered at the People's Committee of Thanh Binh Commune, Cho Gao District.

Ms. M. said the reason she abandoned her two children in Ward 5 was because her husband showed signs of mental illness, "sometimes remembering, sometimes forgetting" and it had gotten worse recently.

On February 9, the husband took his two daughters out and had a mental illness relapse, so he left the children in Ward 5, My Tho City.

The center guided Ms. M. through the local confirmation procedures to receive the children for family care.

The health and mental condition of the two children are currently stable. The center will continue to care for the children until Ms. M. completes the procedures, then hand them over to their families according to regulations.
