Tens of thousands of people have come to the central region of Quang Tri during these July days to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs resting here.

These days of July, the whole country turns to martyrs' cemeteries to respectfully pay tribute to the great contributions of the heroes who fell for the country's independence.

Tens of thousands of people have come to the central region of Quang Tri. Each person who comes here is very moved and feels the concern of the people as well as the local government who are representing the whole country to take care of the graves of heroic martyrs.

Coming to the Road 9, Truong Son or Quang Tri Citadel cemeteries, each person has a different feeling, but the most common is gratitude to the heroic martyrs who are resting here. Thanks to the heroic martyrs, we have peace and prosperity like today.

For Mr. Bach Cong Luu, in Hanoi, this is the third time he has burned incense at the Truong Son martyrs' cemetery, for his uncle, martyr Bach Cong Hai, who died in 1973.

"Our family lives far away, our relatives are here. I came here and saw that the local government took very good care of us. My family is very grateful and also grateful for the kindness of the brothers and sisters serving here," Mr. Bach Cong Luu, Ba Vi District, Hanoi, shared.

The whole Quang Tri province has 72 cemeteries, with more than 55,000 martyrs. In order to take good care of the martyrs' graves, in addition to the support of the state, Quang Tri province has had many solutions, mobilized resources, and renovated the martyrs' cemeteries to become more spacious.

"Quang Tri province has launched a movement to join hands to take care of the cemetery. So far, we have mobilized hundreds of billions of VND. We have assigned an organization to specialize in receiving martyrs' relatives and resolving, as well as advising on any difficulties and problems in implementing policies for relatives when they come here," said Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Quang Tri province.

On the land of Quang Tri, everywhere is marked with the sacrifice of heroic martyrs. At Thach Han River, thousands of soldiers have rested in peace under this riverbed. Journalist, veteran of the ancient citadel Le Ba Duong wrote these verses to express gratitude to his comrades:

Boat to Thach Han, row gently

My friend is still there at the bottom of the river.

Twenty years old become waves

Peaceful shore, forever and ever.

The occasion of commemorating War Invalids and Martyrs Day is also a time of deep emotion and gratitude to the fallen sons of the country.

A unified, independent and peaceful country is built by great sacrifices. During his lifetime, Uncle Ho affirmed: "Those young men are national heroes. The people and the Fatherland will never forget such beloved children". That is the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" of our nation.
