According to the reporter's records, in mid-October 2024, the restoration work of Thai Hoa Palace relic is completing the remaining items.

The exterior items of the monument have been basically completed.

Inside the relic, especially in the main hall area, many skilled craftsmen and workers are busy completing some remaining items.

According to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, Thai Hoa Palace is the most important palace in the Hue Imperial Citadel area, considered a symbol of the power of the Nguyen Dynasty. This is where the Nguyen Dynasty's throne was located, and where the Nguyen Dynasty's ceremonial activities took place during its 143 years of existence.

Thai Hoa Palace is a typical architectural work of the Hue Monuments that has been preserved intact to this day. This palace preserves a system of literature and poetry in the unique decorative form of “one poem, one painting” which has been recognized by UNESCO as a Documentary Heritage under the Memory of the World Program for the Asia-Pacific region.

Thai Hoa Palace was built by King Gia Long in 1805 in the Dai Cung Mon area. In 1833, King Minh Mang rebuilt the building in its current location.

Due to the impact of time and harsh climate, despite many renovations and restorations, the palace has seriously degraded. The People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province approved a project to preserve and restore the Thai Hoa Palace relic with a total investment of more than 128 billion VND.

The project officially started in November 2021 and is expected to be completed in August 2025.

Accordingly, the project will renovate and reinforce the foundation, restore the tiled floor, Thanh stone steps, brick walls with original color and other architectural details; renovate and restore the wooden frame system, roof system, wooden wall system, and wooden doors.

Gilded lacquer, roof covered with Royal glazed tiles and yellow glazed tiles, roof edges and porcelain inlaid animals; enamel decoration system; railing and steps system, renovation, reinforcement, and adjustment of the entire courtyard and grounds of the palace.

Repair and reinforce the retaining wall system, restore railings; Beautify gardens and landscapes; Technical infrastructure system: electricity, lighting, decoration, drainage, fire prevention and fighting systems; Repair and restore thrones, canopies and other furniture...

After nearly 3 years of "major restoration", Thai Hoa Palace - a work of special value in terms of history, culture, and architectural art of the Nguyen Dynasty is gradually being completed, waiting to welcome visitors.

The leaders of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that construction units are increasing manpower and speeding up the project's completion, ahead of the original schedule. Thai Hoa Palace is expected to be inaugurated and officially welcome visitors again from the end of November 2024.
