Vietnamese Tet, along with the changes of time, from the old to the new as an inevitable rule, still remains intact in the consciousness of each person, the old things that are difficult to change. Tet is still like a warm promise, an eagerness to reunite, excitement... The sky has already turned bright, but all the mountain tops, fields and villages are still immersed in a sea of fog. The fog is graceful. Sometimes flowing gently, sometimes standing still, like a silver necklace hugging the mountain, then following the wind, spreading out and weaving through the paths, even pouring into the house, making the firelight on the stoves in the early morning more intense... At this time, perhaps Ho Quang Phin has also woken up! After the Tet holidays with their families, many people tend to set out on the 3rd day of Tet, the early spring festival will be meaningful destinations in the first days of the new year. Vietnam ranks second in fruit and vegetable exports to China with a turnover of more than 4 billion USD, surpassing Chile and narrowing the gap with Thailand. With box office revenue reaching more than 56 billion VND after only 1.5 days of release, Tran Thanh's "The Four Guardians" set a record as the fastest film to reach the 50 billion VND mark. Going to the temple at the beginning of the year is a meaningful traditional custom of the Vietnamese people. Like every year, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, many families in Quang Ninh eagerly went to temples and pagodas to worship, express their respect, gratitude and pray for good luck. At some spiritual places such as temples, pagodas, shrines, historical relics in the province, thousands of Buddhists and people were attracted: Long Tien Pagoda, Cua Ong Temple, Cai Lan Temple... We returned to Bom Bo, Binh Minh Commune, Bu Dang District, Binh Phuoc Province on the occasion of the province's celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Bu Dang District Liberation Day (December 14, 1974 - December 14, 2024), when the Spring atmosphere was spreading on every street and corner. It can be said that Bom Bo has never been so bustling. From bombs and bullets, suffering during the war, this land is now rising to become a rich and prosperous countryside... Attached to the forest and the village for generations, now, the Xo Dang people in Mang Den land, Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province have overcome themselves, stepped out of the village to learn and built traditional stilt houses with their own hands, preserving culture for tourism. A great change of the Xo Dang community in this poetic land. Ethnic and Development Newspaper. I have memorized my mother's loving message to her child far away during the last days of December: "When will you have Tet holiday? Have you booked your train ticket yet?" Over the years, my mother's words have naturally become an obligation to return home. And I have never missed an appointment with my mother, with my family, and with my own default: Tet is for going home!

My parents’ house is about the same age as mine, stained with time with old walls and mossy yard. It holds and preserves many happy and sad memories of my childhood. “Buy salt at the beginning of the year, buy lime at the end of the year”, the first thing I do when I come home to celebrate Tet is to immediately start painting and “putting on a new coat” for my house. This work always creates in me indescribable emotions, as if I am having a dialogue with time, with many ups and downs…

The countryside is gradually modernizing, and Tet services are springing up everywhere, but no matter how busy he is, my father still keeps the habit of wrapping banh chung himself every Tet. When the pot of banh chung is lit and boils, many small and big stories are remembered and shared.

Spring Travel

My mother, a woman who is praised for being very good at cooking, always pays attention to and carefully prepares each Tet meal, especially the New Year's Eve meal and the New Year's Eve offering. She also does not forget to remind her children and grandchildren that no matter where they go or what they do, they should always remember to come home to the dinner table on the 30th of Tet. The dinner table has a sacred flavor, not easily mixed and unlike any other meal of the year. And as my mother once said, it does not necessarily have to be sumptuous, but the most important thing is the presence and harmony of all family members.

As for my father, since I was little, he trained me to attend family rituals. First, around the 25th of December, I often followed my father to visit the graves, repair the graves of my grandparents and ancestors, and change the sand in the incense burner on the altar. Next, my father took me to the family Chap ceremony - a year-end ritual to connect children and grandchildren, relatives, and strengthen the bond of blood and flesh. Although it is repeated regularly every year, I still have the same nostalgic emotions when I see each incense stick and the smoke on the last day of the year lingering in the memory of my grandparents, longing for my roots and homeland...

Remembering the distant Tet seasons, when the media was still limited, there were no social networking platforms like Zalo, Facebook, taking Tet photos became a default habit and an indispensable spiritual need to preserve the moments of family reunion. Only later, when remembering and looking back, we suddenly felt more love and appreciation for the old affection, where there were Tet holidays that remained deeply in our hearts.

To see that, no matter how modern life is, how attractive new values are, old ways of thinking and habits are still like a deep stream that molds morality and behavior that need to be preserved on Tet. This is even more meaningful for today's youth when they tend to have a loose lifestyle, somewhat selfish, increasingly far from the traditional values of their ancestors.

The old customs and traditions present in the familiar and simple things in each family on Tet holiday also contribute to preserving and transmitting national culture through each generation. With that meaning, it is like a connecting thread, tightening family and kinship; helping us learn how to love, be grateful and cherish the past. More than ever, we have the opportunity to return to our roots to remind, teach and improve our personality and soul.
