This was the 6th time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the Long Thanh airport construction site in the past 3 years.

On the afternoon of the 4th day of the Lunar New Year, after giving the order to start construction of the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the progress, presented gifts, and encouraged officials, workers, and laborers working at the Long Thanh airport project site in Dong Nai.

The Prime Minister encouraged the engineers and workers who have made efforts to speed up the project's progress, and requested that they continue to accelerate the project in 2025 to bring the airport to its destination soon. Here, the Prime Minister presented gifts and New Year's lucky money to the engineers and workers.

Reporting to the Prime Minister, the leader of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV - the investor) said that the progress of the bidding packages is very good.

In the past time, the contractor consortium has mobilized nearly 7,000 experts, engineers, workers, laborers and nearly 3,000 pieces of equipment to speed up construction. During the Tet holiday, about 70% of personnel, motorbikes and equipment were mobilized to work through Tet, speeding up progress.

To date, the passenger terminal package has completed underground reinforced concrete, floors 1F, 2F, 3F, 4F and most of the brick walls. Workers are constructing the foundation of the telescopic bridge. The steel roof trusses are also basically completed, some locations have started to roof the terminal. Over 20 days ahead of schedule.

For the package of runways, taxiways, etc., the units mobilized 2,084 personnel and 319 pieces of equipment.

The ILS/DME precision landing aids were brought to the site in December 2024 and installation began in February 2025. The runway is expected to be completed by April 30 this year.

For the aircraft parking package, the joint venture contractor has mobilized more than 1,200 engineers and workers with 329 motorbikes and equipment; currently implementing the construction of the ground foundation of the passenger terminal parking area, taxiways, digging the tunnel area, filling sand, and building a drainage system for the aircraft parking area. Progress is good compared to the plan.

For traffic packages T1 and T2, the contractor mobilized 800 personnel, 196 machines and equipment and simultaneously deployed construction teams.

Up to now, the road section has basically completed the earthwork and crushed stone grading, and many sections have been reinforced with cement concrete.

The bridge deck and main bridge route are basically completed... Strive to technically open route T1 before April 30, complete and hand over the project for use before September 2.

Speed ​​up project construction

After inspecting and wishing a Happy New Year to workers and construction units at the site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh worked with ministries, branches, investors, localities and related units, listening to recommendations and ensuring progress is accelerated.

At the meeting, Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh said that following the Prime Minister's direction, the Ministry of Transport coordinated with ACV and contractors to review, develop plans, and determine new progress critical paths. The Ministry of Transport requested relevant units to promptly report daily and weekly progress to grasp and promptly resolve difficulties right at the construction site.

Component project 1 (headquarters of agencies) has 4/5 projects started and committed to completion before December 31, 2025.

Component 2 project (air traffic control works) is scheduled to be completed before December 31, 2025.

Component 3 project invested by ACV (Airports Corporation of Vietnam), by the end of December 2024, 3 basic packages were completed, many packages are under construction, selecting construction contractors, and appraising technical designs.

ACV worked with contractors to request to speed up construction, and all parties also made efforts to complete the packages 3-5 months ahead of schedule.

Regarding component project 4, Minister Tran Hong Minh said that the units are also making efforts to speed up to reach the finish line on time.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged the efforts of ministries, branches, agencies and localities, and praised the enthusiasm for work with nearly 4,000 officials and workers staying at the construction site during Tet. Equipment at the passenger terminal is being installed, and the central roof truss will be installed on February 15.

The Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, localities, units and ACV to urgently implement the Prime Minister's direction at the meeting on January 25 and according to their functions, tasks and powers.

Review and rebuild the critical path according to the target to deploy the work and monitor, inspect and supervise the project investment and construction process, promptly handle problems and arising issues according to authority, report urgent issues beyond authority.

The Prime Minister requested ACV and relevant agencies to increase machinery, human resources, construction, and equipment installation in the spirit of "3 shifts, 4 shifts", through holidays, Tet, and days off, "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to storms"; increase subcontractors, mobilize the police, army, and trade unions... for tasks that can be done such as cleaning and restoring the environment.

Regarding raw materials, the Prime Minister requested that next week, Dong Nai meet with ministries, sectors, investors, and contractors to completely resolve problems regarding the provision of raw materials in the spirit of providing directly to contractors, without intermediaries.

Reclaim mines that have expired or are operating improperly, take advantage of the situation of hoarding, profiteering, and price gouging, and strictly handle cases as a deterrent. The Ministry of Public Security must get involved to do this.

The Prime Minister also directed relevant units to build aircraft repair houses (hangars), connecting traffic routes (including the metro line from Tan Son Nhat airport to Long Thanh airport), and carry out procedures to deploy to the site.

With difficulties and problems, ministries, localities, investors, contractors, etc. report to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha for immediate resolution.

The Prime Minister also assigned Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to convene monthly meetings with relevant entities to urge, direct, and resolve arising issues.

The Long Thanh airport construction project phase 1 has a total investment of nearly 110,000 billion VND.

The project has 4 component projects, of which component project 3 includes essential works in the airport invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) with a total investment of more than 99,000 billion VND.

Long Thanh Airport has an area of ​​5,000 hectares, located in Long Thanh (Dong Nai), and phase 1 construction started in January 2021.
