The Russian Investigative Committee said on April 9 that it was investigating the suspicion that Western officials were involved in the attack on the Crocus City Hall theater in Moscow on March 22 as well as the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, according to RT.

The investigation was initiated at the suggestion of several Russian lawmakers who accused the US and its allies of involvement in the organization of the attack in Moscow on March 22. The US has declared its innocence while the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility.
Svetlana Petrenko, a spokeswoman for Russia’s Investigative Committee, said the suspects included government officials, civil society and business figures from Western countries. She said Russia had found evidence that funding for the attacks in Russia was channeled through Ukrainian companies, including Burisma Holdings, which employed Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden.
In addition, the Russian prosecutor general's office said it would monitor evidence related to individuals and organizations in the United States, Germany, France and Cyprus.
In addition to last month's attack, investigators are also looking into assassinations of prominent Russian figures and the 2022 explosion of the Nord Stream pipeline that carries gas from Russia to Europe.
Commenting on the move, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said it was "nonsense", according to AFP. "Russia knew it was IS that carried out the attack in Moscow, we knew it was IS. We warned Russia about a terrorist attack that was threatening Moscow and all that's left is noise," Mr. Sullivan said.
