Hanoi City Supporting Industry Fair 2024 officially opens Supporting industry faces a 'golden' opportunity to join the global multi-industry supply network

Mr. Nguyen Hoang - Chairman of the Hanoi Association of Supporting Industry Enterprises (Hansiba), Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Supporting Industries (VASI), Chairman of the Board of Directors of N&G Group had an interview with reporters of the Industry and Trade Newspaper about this issue.

The recent storm No. 3 has impacted many aspects of the economy and society. How has the supporting industry been affected, sir?

Storm No. 3 was very strong, causing very heavy damage, including to manufacturing and trading enterprises. However, with the close direction of the Party, the State, and the Prime Minister, enterprises have basically overcome the infrastructure, input materials, and output connections to promote and bring production back to normal operations.

Besides, although the recent order volume has been affected to some extent by fluctuations in the world economic situation, due to the Government's policies and the efforts of enterprises, the production plan at the beginning of the year has been maintained and can produce stably this year and the following years.

On the other hand, Vietnamese enterprises are currently participating extensively in free trade agreements (FTAs) with major powers in the world. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises in general and supporting industry enterprises in particular to participate in the global value chain.

With political stability, the state's macro-policy regulation, and the interest and investment of corporations from countries around the world in Vietnam, cooperating with Vietnamese enterprises to jointly produce supporting industrial products, thereby participating in the global production chain. This will be a great opportunity for supporting industrial enterprises in Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular to rise up to gain market share and assert themselves.

To support businesses, what solutions has Hansiba implemented in the past time, sir?

With the direction of the Government and the orientation of the authorities, the association is currently working with businesses to develop a very specific action program to support businesses.

Ông Nguyễn Hoàng - Chủ tịch Hiệp hội Doanh nghiệp ngành Công nghiệp hỗ trợ (CNHT) TP. Hà Nội (Hansiba), Phó Chủ tịch Hiệp hội CNHT Việt Nam (VASI),

For example, we develop specialized, modern industrial parks that meet the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations, thereby supporting businesses in investing in production, ensuring they can participate in the global production chain. Along with that, labor training, access to new technology, etc. support Vietnamese businesses so that they can cooperate with FDI enterprises to develop production.

With the existing policies, along with the attention of the Party, State and Government in the coming time in innovating and promoting policies related to supporting industry, we believe that Vietnamese supporting industry enterprises will reach a new height. From there, they will contribute worthily to the industrialization and modernization of the country.

In the green industry development strategy, there is a supporting industry sector. What recommendations do you have for businesses to enhance green industry development?

This is extremely important, if our businesses in general and supporting industries in particular do not innovate in green production and move towards sustainable development, they will not be able to participate in the global production chain. This is the key point for businesses to transform.

Promoting digital transformation, along with smart and modern technologies, and aiming towards the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations, this is the passport for Vietnamese enterprises in general and supporting industry enterprises in particular to rise up and participate in the development of the global production chain.

In the recent past, we have also made proposals to the Party, the State, and the Government. The Government is also very interested and is directing ministries and branches to have appropriate policies to support businesses.

In which, there are pivotal investments so that enterprises can have hard infrastructure. Along with that are soft policies so that enterprises can apply and integrate with multinational enterprises and FDI enterprises that are present and will be present in Vietnam.

Currently, what are the barriers for businesses in general and supporting industry businesses in particular in green transformation, sir?

I think the most important thing is still the pressure on output, the pressure on the development of the enterprise itself. Currently, they are "struggling" with investment in production to be able to participate in the global production chain. Along with that is maintaining orders.

Green growth and sustainable development are two parallel tasks to support businesses to participate in the global production chain according to international standards. This is an opportunity but also a challenge that requires Vietnamese businesses to rise up. In addition, businesses also need the companionship and support of functional agencies.

Thank you!

Up to now, in Hanoi, there are nearly 1,000 supporting industry enterprises, with over 35% of enterprises having production systems and products that meet international standards, capable of supplying to the production networks of multinational corporations in Vietnam, in the region and the world.
