In the aquaculture sector, with the price of pangasius increasing, farmers earn a profit of about 6,000-7,000 VND/kg. These are 2 sectors operating effectively in the first 3 months of the year, contributing to increasing the value of agricultural production in the first quarter of 2025 of the district to an estimated 815.55 billion VND, reaching 28.65% of the yearly plan, up 0.54% over the same period in 2024.

Of which, the total rice cultivation area to date is 7,326 hectares, reaching 100.98% of the plan, an increase of 680.96 hectares compared to the same period in 2024. High-quality specialty rice varieties are used at a rate of over 95% in the total structure of direct-sown rice varieties. To date, farmers have completely harvested the winter-spring rice crop, with an average yield of over 7.2 tons/ha, and an estimated output of 26,539.8 tons, reaching 102.9% of the plan. However, the price of fresh rice in the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop has decreased by 1,500-2,000 VND/kg compared to the same period in 2024. Specifically, the price of Dai Thom 8 variety is from 6,200-6,300 VND/kg, other varieties such as OM 18 are priced at 5,600-5,800 VND/kg; OM 5451 price is 5,300-5,500 VND/kg, IR 50404 price is 5,100-5,200 VND/kg. Although the price is lower than the 2023-2024 winter-spring crop, the profit margin compared to the total revenue is over 45%, equivalent to the same period of the previous winter-spring crop.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thot Not district, farmers have made quite a profit in the winter-spring crop thanks to the locality continuing to maintain and expand 8 large fields producing high-quality rice in 7 wards, with a total area of ​​978.1 hectares, with 1,090 households participating in focusing on producing high-quality rice and producing Dai Thom 8 rice variety. Up to now, the harvest has been completed, with a yield of 7.2 tons/ha... On this area, farmers in Thot Not district continue to produce the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop with a total planting area of ​​3,588 hectares, reaching 101.73% of the plan. The seedling structure has 63% of the sown variety OM 5451, 28% of the OM 18 variety and 9% of other varieties. Currently, the rice is in the seedling to tillering stage and growing well.

Regarding aquaculture, Thot Not district has a total area of ​​over 300.65 hectares, reaching 73.33% of the plan, of which the area for raising pangasius meat is 275.21 hectares, 2.89 hectares higher than the same period in 2024 (reaching 72.42% of the plan), the area for raising pangasius fry is 15.1 hectares, 3.11 hectares higher than the same period in 2024... The total output of harvested aquaculture products to date is 25,248 tons, an increase of 5,197 tons over the same period in 2024. Of which, pangasius output is 24,968 tons, an increase of 5,338 tons over the same period in 2024, reaching 25.48% of the annual plan. Thot Not currently has a concentrated pangasius farming area of ​​1 company with an area of ​​10.55 hectares; 31.29ha of 17 facilities for processing. The aquaculture area with food safety certification has a total area of ​​161.28ha of 74 pangasius farming facilities. Of which, 51.4ha of 25 facilities have food safety certification according to VietGAP... According to the Department of Agriculture of Thot Not district, most pangasius farming households only sign purchase and sale contracts with processing enterprises when the fish reach commercial size, so prices are unstable, depending on the consumption market at each harvest time. The current cost of pangasius farming is from 24,000-25,000 VND/kg. From the beginning of January until now, the price of pangasius meat has fluctuated from 30,000-32,500 VND/kg, 6,000-7,000 VND/kg higher than the same period in 2024. With this price, farmers have a profit of about 7,000 VND/kg, creating excitement and reinvestment for the next crop for households...

To achieve high efficiency in agricultural production, Thot Not district is interested in investing in infrastructure construction and preparing to implement many irrigation works in the area. In particular, dredging Duong Xuong 1 canal, Ca Cao canal, Muong Voi canal, Ba Hoi canal, Moi canal in Thoi Thuan ward; dredging Suon 1 canal, Tap Doan 5 canal, Muong Dieu canal, Ba Sau canal branch, Muong Ranh branch, Thay Tai in Trung Nhut ward, Thanh Hoa; dredging Cai Ngai canal, Sau Chieu canal, Cho canal, Ong Tam canal in Trung Kien ward, Thuan Hung; dredging Rua Ong Chu canal, Ruong canal, Khai Long canal in Tan Loc ward...
