Winter melon is grown on rice fields in Thoi Lai district.
The area planted with various types of beans (green beans, peanuts, soybeans and other legumes) also increased by 35 hectares compared to the same period last year and reached 469 hectares, of which 317 hectares have been harvested. The corn planting area alone reached 375 hectares, 33 hectares lower than the same period last year. Vegetables, beans and corn are grown in many districts of the city such as Binh Thuy, O Mon, Thot Not, Thoi Lai, Co Do, Phong Dien, etc.
According to the functional sectors in many districts of Can Tho City, farmers in many places continue to promote planting more types of vegetables and crops according to many different production models such as monoculture on ridges, intercropping in orchards, planting on rice fields... In particular, after harvesting the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop, farmers in many places have actively promoted crop rotation to grow vegetables and crops that are highly drought-resistant and use little irrigation water to adapt to the hot weather conditions of the dry season and help improve production efficiency compared to growing rice continuously for 3 crops a year.
