On August 28, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department coordinated with the Academy of Journalism and Communication and the National Political Publishing House to organize the National Scientific Conference "Improving the quality of human resource training for Vietnamese publishing activities to meet development requirements in the new period".
Speaking at the Workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Minh Son - Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication - said that this is a very meaningful scientific activity, contributing to summarizing 20 years of implementing Directive No. 42-CT/TW and assessing the current status of human resource training for the Publishing industry in recent times.
At the same time, it is an opportunity for leaders, scientists, experts from departments, ministries, branches, training institutions, publishing agencies to research, discuss, propose orientations, tasks, solutions, and recommendations to the Party and State to continue improving the quality of human resource training for Vietnamese publishing activities to meet development requirements in the next period.
Associate Professor Dr. Pham Minh Son also said that the Academy of Journalism and Communication is currently facing many common challenges in current publishing training activities such as: The quality of training output is still uneven; pressure from the lack of training resources in terms of teaching staff, facilities and techniques; theoretical research and practical summarization of publishing are still slow, not keeping up with the practical situation...
Sharing about this issue at the Workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thi Quyen - Chairwoman of the University Council, Hanoi University of Culture proposed a number of solutions to improve the quality of human resource training for Vietnamese publishing activities.
"Firstly, we need to focus on training and developing the teaching staff. Second, we need to connect training facilities with agencies and businesses that use training products, and cooperate internationally in the region and the world on training in general, and training and improving the qualifications of teaching staff in the training sector in particular.
Third, innovate training from form to program content, content of each subject. Fourth, strengthen the system of learning materials (including textbooks, monographs, reference materials) to serve training work" - Associate Professor Quyen emphasized.
Sharing at the Workshop, MSc. Pham Tuan Vu - Deputy Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, Ministry of Information and Communications also emphasized the importance of developing human resources in the Publishing, Printing and Distribution industry in the new period.
"Reality proves that human resources - a team of knowledgeable, creative, enthusiastic, dedicated and responsible people - are the most valuable and important assets that determine success or failure in competition and the realization of vision and mission in the development process of publishers, distribution units and printing establishments" - Master Vu expressed.
Affirming that in order to successfully implement the Strategy to promote the development of the Publishing, Printing and Distribution sector in the period of 2021 - 2025, Dr. Tran Chi Dat - Director, Editor-in-Chief of Information and Communication Publishing House said that it is necessary to gradually transform digitally in publishing activities. Publishers and book distribution companies need to have a team of capable human resources to meet the requirements and demands of digital transformation practices.
Dr. Tran Chi Dat also proposed many solutions to promote human resource development to meet the requirements of digital transformation in publishing activities in Vietnam today. In particular, he emphasized the need for training institutions to raise awareness of digital transformation, foster and improve skills and expertise in applying technology for the school's leadership team, staff and lecturers.
At the same time, it is necessary to quickly build and develop a system of digital universities/digital vocational centers and digital training centers in publishing and distribution training institutions.
