Security support
War invalid Le Thi Lien (village 1, Tra Mai commune, Nam Tra My) just turned 80 years old this year. Ms. Lien has many children and grandchildren, but most of them are married and live separately, only her daughter is not married but works in Ho Chi Minh City.
Understanding Ms. Lien's situation, over the years, the Party Cell of Village 1 and the Tra Mai Commune government have always paid attention and provided timely encouragement, especially on important holidays and anniversaries.
Tra Mai Commune assigned women, veteran members and youth to take turns visiting, caring for and promptly supporting Ms. Lien when she was sick or needed help with family matters.
Ms. Lien said: “Every year, the provincial and district leaders care and visit me, and I am very happy. When I am sick, my neighbors help me and my party cell encourages me. My children and grandchildren live far away but they often come back to visit their mother and grandmother. That is so much fun for me!”
From the State's support money for people to participate in political activities and have a solidarity meal on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the homeland, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tra Don commune coordinated with the front working committees of the villages to organize political activities, sports and cultural exchanges... creating an atmosphere of solidarity and pride in the achievements of the liberation of the homeland.
Attending the meeting of residential area No. 2, Mr. Ho Van Reo (Tu Lang village) could not help but be moved when he was able to relive the heroic years of fighting.
He was welcomed by the young generation and the people of village 2, listening to him tell heroic stories of the past. The leaders of Nam Tra My district also gave him and other wounded soldiers gifts from the province, along with warm greetings and deep gratitude.
“In the past, when we fought, we also wished for our homeland to be like it is today. Now, seeing our children and grandchildren, young people who know how to do business, and officials who know how to care for families with meritorious services, we are very happy,” Mr. Reo shared.
Continuing the journey of gratitude
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Quang Nam province (March 24) and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Provincial Party Committee (March 28), the leaders of Nam Tra My district sent gifts from the province to wounded soldiers, families of policy beneficiaries, and joined the people in political activities to celebrate the important day of their homeland.
Communes throughout Nam Tra My district have given gifts to meritorious people and organized meaningful political activities and solidarity meals with the people.
In Tra Don commune, there are currently 12 wounded and sick soldiers, belonging to 11 households. The families have now escaped poverty, and their children are being well taken care of and educated.
Although socio-economic conditions are still difficult, the locality always focuses on and cares for social security work, especially taking care of people with meritorious services.
Mr. Le Trung Thuc - Chairman of Tra Don Commune People's Committee said: "On annual holidays and Tet, in addition to gifts from the Central, province and district, the commune also allocates budget and organizes visits and encouragement for people with meritorious services. In addition to families with meritorious services and people with meritorious services to the revolution, we also pay attention to visiting and encouraging families with difficult circumstances, poor children who study well... Although the gifts are not large, they demonstrate the morality of drinking water and remembering its source, and at the same time create motivation for policy households to strive."
Identifying social security work and caring for people with meritorious services as important political tasks, Nam Tra My district has carried out many acts of caring for, supporting, and looking after the lives of people with meritorious services.
Over 5 years (2020 - 2025), the district has paid monthly preferential subsidies, one-time subsidies of more than 75 billion VND, supported the construction of 8 houses for people with meritorious services according to Resolution No. 13 of the Provincial People's Council and 25 houses from socialized sources.
In addition, regular and emergency social assistance policies are widely implemented in all communes, with the number of beneficiaries increasing by an average of more than 20% per year.
Thanks to that, the material and spiritual life of people with meritorious services has gradually improved, helping them to live in peace and continue to contribute to important political tasks of the locality.
