Thinh grew up in a family with a father who was a factory worker and a mother who was a housewife. In first grade, Thinh moved with his parents from Khanh Hoa to Vung Tau city. Throughout his years as a student, he always made his parents proud because of his good academic results, self-study and self-improvement.
During his three years in high school, Thinh was a member of the Geography team of Nguyen Hue High School. He won the provincial consolation prize in grade 10 and third prize in grades 11 and 12. This male student is also an excellent all-round student with an average GPA of the three years of high school leading the group, and in grade 12 he achieved 9.6. In 2022, Thinh won third prize in the provincial science and technology research competition in the field of society and behavior.
Having a connection with social sciences, Thinh chose to pursue engineering to explore different aspects of colorful life.
" I don't focus on exams and achievements, but study to discover myself and the world around me. Thanks to that, I have a fair amount of social knowledge and study all subjects equally," Thinh said, adding that he always tries to absorb knowledge in many fields, not studying one-sidedly or learning by rote.
Every day, Quoc Thinh wakes up at 5am, after exercising and eating breakfast, he leaves home at 6:30am, cycling to school. Thinh calls the bicycle he has been with for three years in high school his "special friend". After school in the afternoon, the male student cycles around the city to relieve stress.

Regarding the secret to effective exam preparation, the male valedictorian said that he mainly studied at school and did not take extra classes. In addition, he carefully planned his exam preparation. At the same time, Thinh did not rush to "cram the questions" but grasped the basic knowledge first. After having a solid "foundation", he started practicing exam questions, about 2 months before the exam.
"If you do the test too early, you will easily feel too much pressure. Moreover, at that time, the knowledge you have will not be comprehensive and certain. I find that practicing the test in the final stage will be much more effective," Thinh added.
Quoc Thinh spends a lot of time on Math and Physics. He believes that self-study is one of the important skills if students want to achieve the desired score. During 2 months of practicing, Thinh said, " I did all the exercises, then did them over and over again to master them. When I started practicing, because I had repeated the exercises, I was no longer confused."
Thanks to having a pre-determined review schedule and studying regularly, Quoc Thinh did not feel pressured before entering the official exam room. Thinh assessed himself that he studied all subjects equally, without neglecting any subject. When he finished the graduation exam, the male student was quite confident with his work, but the achievement of being valedictorian was something he had never thought of.
Family is always the motivation for this male student to strive to complete the set goals. Like the male valedictorian, his family does not create pressure but emphasizes the initiative of their children.
" Although my family is not rich, my parents always give me the best. They do not interfere or force me to study for a certain period of time, as long as I see results, that's fine, " Thinh confided. Outside of school, Thinh does housework and helps his two younger siblings with their homework.
For Nguyen Quoc Thinh, the upcoming journey in the university lecture hall will be full of surprises, challenges, and it is difficult to avoid feeling overwhelmed by new knowledge and a new environment. The male valedictorian of block D00 believes that as long as he "dares to commit", the results will not disappoint him.
