Meeting Lao students in Son La on the occasion of traditional Bunpimay New Year

NDO - On the afternoon of April 14, Son La Provincial Youth Union organized a meeting with Lao students with the theme "Cultivating the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos" on the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in 2025.

Currently, the schools: Son La College, Tay Bac University and Son La Medical College are training 907 Lao students studying Vietnamese and majors such as: pedagogy, economics , tourism, information technology, medicine...

At the meeting on the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Son La Provincial Youth Union awarded Certificates of Merit and commended 35 Lao students who were outstanding in studying and participating in union and association activities of 3 schools: Son La College, Tay Bac University and Son La Medical College.

Delegates attended the meeting with Lao students on the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

On this occasion, Son La Provincial Youth Union also gave Tet gifts to Lao students at schools and organized cultural exchange activities between units and performed the wrist-tying and water-splashing rituals of the Lao people.

Bunpimay is one of the most important festivals in the land of a million elephants. This is an occasion for Lao people to reunite with family and friends and pray together for a new year full of joy and happiness.

Promoting the special and rare relationship of close, loyal and pure ties between the two nations, in recent times Son La province has successfully implemented a comprehensive cooperation program with 9 northern Lao provinces in many fields, including education and training.

In Son La, human resource training is an important and long-term strategic cooperation content that brings many practical results. Son La province has paid special attention to creating a learning and training environment that ensures the best quality for Lao students.

At Son La College, there are 350 Laotian students studying Vietnamese and other majors.

In recent times, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Son La province has done a good job in international youth work, organizing propaganda activities, mobilizing union members and young people to be active and proactive in studying, training and preparing for integration.

Son La Provincial Youth Union has had many forms of support for Lao students studying at colleges and universities in the province, such as: maintaining the activities of volunteer teams teaching Vietnamese; student models supporting Lao students studying, communicating, and cultural exchanges; giving scholarships to international students; organizing annual cultural and sports exchange activities between students of the two countries with high significance, creating deep and good impressions for international students.

Activities of visiting, working and exchanging experiences on union work and youth movements between the Son La Provincial Youth Union and the Youth Unions of 9 Northern Lao provinces have brought about positive changes.

From the above mentioned activities of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, it has been contributing to improving the quality of youth work implementation and strengthening the role of the youth union agencies of Vietnam and Laos in general, Son La and 9 northern Lao provinces in particular in implementing activities to support and accompany youth and the community.
