Bac Giang male student won bronze medal at Asian Physics Olympiad

(Dan Tri) - Than The Cong (grade 11 Physics, Bac Giang High School for the Gifted) recently won a bronze medal at the 2023 Asia-Pacific Physics Olympiad.

Than The Cong (from Bac Giang) is a 11th grade Physics student at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted. After winning first prize in physics in the National Excellent Student Competition, Cong continued his review journey to enter round 2, preparing for the selection exam for the team participating in the 2023 Asia-Pacific Physics Olympiad (APhO).

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter , the male student said that after winning first prize in the National Excellent Student exam, he decided to test himself and take part in round 2. After receiving the notice of passing, Cong packed his bags and left; to study for the exam with teachers and seniors of Hanoi Pedagogical University.

Studying away from home, The Cong confided: "Before studying for the APhO exam, I spent some time in Hanoi preparing for the National Excellent Student exam.

On weekends, my parents often come from Bac Giang to Hanoi to visit me. In the dormitory, the teachers and older siblings also care and ask about me. Thanks to that, the time studying in Hanoi for the Physics Olympiad was not too stressful."

As a physics enthusiast since 8th grade, Cong said he felt honored to have the opportunity to participate in a major competition in Asia related to his favorite subject.

In addition, the male student confided that he felt enlightened and considered this a good opportunity to interact with international friends.

"My goal before the tournament was to win a bronze medal. After receiving the notice from the coach that the Vietnamese team brought home four medals, we felt honored to be able to contribute to bringing our country's name to the world," Cong shared.

Sharing his future plans, Cong said he will prepare for the National Physics Olympiad next year. After that, he will continue to compete in the second round to select for the team to compete in the 2024 Asia-Pacific Physics Olympiad.

"My love for physics is the source of motivation and strength that helps me achieve many achievements. I hope that in 2024 I will achieve higher results at the APhO tournament," Cong said.
