A year of many achievements
Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province Huynh Quoc Viet said that from the beginning of 2023, the Provincial People's Committee identified 5 key tasks to be performed during the year, assigning specific tasks to departments, branches, and localities to implement with the motto of action "three yes" (Discipline - Responsibility - Efficiency) and "three no" (No delay - No mistakes - No missed work), achieving positive results.
In 2023, Ca Mau province's economy will grow rapidly, ranking 3rd in the Mekong Delta and 16th in the country. The province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) will reach 45,471 billion VND, up 7.83% over the same period, exceeding the set plan (7%). Growth quality is highly appreciated, with GRDP per capita reaching nearly 70 million VND, up 13% over the same period; labor productivity growth rate reaching 6.5%; total social investment capital reaching 24,000 billion VND, up 8.9% over the same period.
Localities have focused on drastically implementing site clearance to invest in infrastructure construction, especially traffic infrastructure. Typical projects include: Investment project to build the Eastern Expressway, Hau Giang - Ca Mau section; National Highway 1 bypass through Ca Mau City; routes: Ca Mau - Dam Doi, Cai Nuoc - Vam Dinh - Cai Doi Vam, U Minh - Khanh Hoi; East - West axis, Ganh Hao bridge and Song Doc bridge; medical infrastructure projects, Ca Mau General Hospital with a scale of 1,200 beds... In addition, synchronously promoting administrative reform, improving the investment and business environment.
In 2023, the tourism sector of Ca Mau province has many bright spots, continuing to recover and grow, the quality of services in tourist areas and spots has been improved. The total number of tourists is estimated to reach nearly 2 million people in the year, up 18% over the same period, exceeding the plan by 13.5%. Total tourism revenue reached VND 2,900 billion, up 20% over the same period, exceeding the plan by 8.6%.
Breakthrough in 2024
Ca Mau identified 2024 as a breakthrough year, of special significance in successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 16th Provincial Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021 - 2025 of the province. The Provincial People's Committee identified 6 key contents in the direction and administration, and at the same time issued an action program assigning specific tasks to each department, branch, unit and locality to focus on implementation with drastic, creative, synchronous, effective and sustainable actions according to 12 key task groups.
Secretary of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai said: “With the planning of Ca Mau province associated with the National Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, along with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's agreement in principle for Ca Mau to have priority development mechanisms, including extending the North-South expressway to Dat Mui; upgrading Ca Mau Provincial Airport to 4C scale; especially the implementation of the Hon Khoai General Port project, Ca Mau has felt and clearly seen the great opportunities and chances associated with the goal of rapid and sustainable development”.
