Since the beginning of 2023, the number of tourists visiting My Son temple complex (Duy Phu commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam) has increased sharply, especially international visitors. In the first quarter, the total number of visitors reached more than 80,000. In just 3 days of the holiday (from April 29 to May 1), the number of visitors reached more than 5,500, of which more than 4,000 were foreign visitors. In April 2023, the total number of visitors to My Son reached nearly 36,000.
The above "telling numbers" show that My Son tourism is recovering spectacularly after a long period of "freezing" due to the pandemic. This is a very optimistic number for the My Son tourism recovery roadmap with the goal of welcoming 180,000 visitors, of which 130,000 are foreign visitors in 2023, set by the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board.
In addition to objective factors such as the number of international visitors returning to Vietnam, promoting and advertising My Son values through many visual and online forms also contributes to spreading the image of the heritage to a large number of visitors from near and far. In particular, in recent times, My Son has built, upgraded and renewed service products such as Cham folk arts (6 shows/day, including 2 performances in the tower). In addition, completing the tour program of newly restored temples and towers (A, K, H); controlling tickets by scanning QR codes; completing the multilingual commentary system; visiting My Son through virtual reality with 360 degrees in My Son.

Many unique tourism products
Notably, the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board has recently launched a new tourism product called "Legendary My Son Night". This product is only available in My Son because it is located right at the foot of the ancient towers that are more than a thousand years old. It is these new, unique and special tourism products that have helped My Son tourism recover faster than expected, making My Son an attractive tourist destination in Quang Nam province. In addition, My Son has been suggested by foreign press as one of the 10 must-see tourist destinations in Vietnam. My Son temple complex also appeared in the Hollywood movie A Tourist's Guide to Love .
Mr. Phan Ho, Director of the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board, said that the success of My Son today is to turn the original goal of "preserving and conserving the relic complex" into an attractive tourist destination today. Although the time is not long, it has witnessed a remarkable step forward in tourism in My Son from services, tourism products to the increase in the number of visitors, thereby creating important conditions and motivation to attract resources to invest in the conservation of the temples here.
According to Mr. Ho, in the coming time, the Management Board will continue to promote, promote and connect tourists and businesses based on technology products and utilities, especially focusing on digital transformation. In addition, Cham folk art products will be increasingly diversified with traditional songs and dances, giving tourists unique feelings about Cham culture. Along with that, opening sightseeing routes to neighboring areas to reduce pressure on heritage and create diversity of destinations. "We will bring My Son together with Hoi An to contribute to forming an attractive tourist center of the Central region in the near future," said Mr. Ho.
