Warning about impersonating hotels and tourist areas to scam

On April 15, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province said it had sent a dispatch requesting accommodation establishments and tourist attractions to be vigilant and proactively warn customers about the situation of impersonating hotels and tourist attractions to scam customers in the locality. The local tourism industry also recommended that when units discover fake Fanpages, they should promptly report to the Quang Binh Provincial Police for timely handling.

In addition, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province also requires tourism businesses to strengthen information security, register copyrights and trademarks to protect reputation and prevent counterfeiting that affects business operations and image.

Many accommodation establishments in Quang Binh were impersonated

Previously, many famous hotels and tourist attractions in Quang Binh such as Melia Vinpearl, Bang Onsen, Sam, Poseido Hotel, Len Chua Ecostay... became targets of impersonation by bad guys to steal tourists' deposits.

Bad guys use sophisticated tricks such as copying images and information from the official Fanpage to create a fake page that looks exactly like it, then posting attractive promotions and unusually low prices to trick users.

After the victim transfers the booking money, these pages immediately cut off contact and disappear. Fake fanpages often target newly opened accommodation establishments with low interaction, making it difficult to distinguish between real and fake. The scammers also pretend to be professional consultants, creating a sense of trust for customers.
