Sputnik news agency on June 21 quoted a press release from the multinational cybersecurity corporation Kaspersky Lab saying that the US Department of Commerce has just decided to ban all of the company's products from operating in the US.
The ban was issued on June 20, focusing on banning Kaspersky Lab's information, communication technology and services (ICTS) trading activities from September 29.
The US Department of Commerce also issued a series of export restrictions targeting Kaspersky, and blacklisted the group and related companies "due to suspicions that the company cooperates with the Russian military and intelligence community".
“First of all, this decision will encourage cybercriminals,” Kaspersky said in a statement. “International coordination between cybersecurity experts is essential for effective countermeasures against cyber threats. However, it is now limited.
Furthermore, American consumers and businesses will not be able to protect their devices from malware with industry-leading, independently verified technology.
Our existing customers in the US will face significant challenges as they are forced to urgently find alternatives to technologies they have relied on for many years."
In addition, Kaspersky Lab also affirmed that the group will continue to protect the world from cyber threats, as well as protect its business from "wrongful actions aimed at damaging the company's reputation and commercial interests".
Kaspersky Lab is a multinational cybersecurity corporation headquartered in Moscow, Russia.
This corporation is famous for many anti-virus software and network security solutions that are rated as having the world's top quality.
