(Dan Tri) - According to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh, Director of the Central Dermatology Hospital, with the establishment of a local psoriasis clinic, patients with this lifelong disease no longer have to travel far.
The above information was announced by Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh at the Scientific Conference on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the hospital's establishment, taking place on January 17 in Hanoi.
According to this expert, the Central Dermatology Hospital is managing about 1,000 psoriasis patients. Recently, many patients have been transferred to provincial hospitals for management. This not only reduces the burden on upper-level hospitals, but is also very good for patients as their disease is well managed locally.
"Patients are well managed at the provincial level, even at the district level, they don't have to go far anymore. Previously, there were patients who traveled 300km, even 500km, 1,000km to be monitored and managed at the hospital, now patients don't have to go far anymore," Associate Professor Doanh said.
Mr. Doanh cited that, for example, at Dak Lak Dermatology Hospital, in the past, they had enough qualified doctors, but were not allowed to use certain types of drugs, especially biological drugs, to treat psoriasis.
But when they open a specialized clinic, they can create a list, which can be used for patients, helping to manage the disease well locally. Tens of millions of injections have been used locally.
According to Associate Professor Doanh, this achievement was thanks to the hospital's active promotion of line management.
In 2024, the hospital conducted examinations and epidemiological investigations in 7 provinces, provided training and transferred techniques to 12 provinces. The hospital effectively implemented specialized dermatology activities in 21 units in 20 provinces/cities.
Specialized psoriasis clinics have been established and operate effectively, helping patients to be managed and treated locally, reducing costs and travel time.
The hospital has also completed the Leprosy Prevention Strategy for the period 2025-2030 with the goal: "For a Vietnam without leprosy: no infection, no cases, no disability and no discrimination".
"In 2024, the hospital has strengthened cooperation with international medical organizations, focusing on training, scientific research and in-depth development in the industry.
The achievements are the result of the continuous efforts of the entire Party Committee, Board of Directors, officers and employees of the Central Dermatology Hospital and close coordination with dermatology units across the country," Associate Professor Doanh emphasized.
In 2025, the Central Dermatology Hospital identifies key tasks as developing specialized treatment techniques; strengthening the national dermatology network; improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, perfecting management processes; enhancing international cooperation and scientific research.
