Heavy rain and flash floods continue to cause damage in Muong La district

On August 11, heavy rain continued to fall in Muong La district, causing flash floods and landslides, damaging state and people's property.

Heavy rain caused landslides in 2 houses in Chieng Hoa commune, rocks rolled into the houses; National Highway 279D, Ban Ket section, Ta Bu commune, landslide at 1 point, about 30m long, positive slope soil and rock volume of 60m3 , flooding 2 sections, about 200m long; inter-commune road from Chieng Hoa to Chieng Cong, landslide at 30m long, soil and rock volume of about 30m3 ; local flooding in It Ong town.

At around 10am on August 11, Song A Pao Chua, born in 2017, residing in Pa Tong village, Ta Bu commune, was swept away by water and died while playing with friends at the stream next to his house. In recent days, in the district, the rain and floods have been complicated, the stream water has risen, people need to be cautious, pay attention to children, and avoid tragic drowning accidents during the rainy season.

The district is still focusing on overcoming the consequences of damage caused by floods; mobilizing forces with the motto "4 on-site", supporting households at high risk of landslides to move people and property to safe places; mobilizing excavators to coordinate with the Department of Transport to deploy the opening of National Highway 279D, Ban Ket section, Ta Bu commune, the first section of the hard bridge to Son La hydropower plant. Continuing to direct the mobilization of existing machinery and equipment to open routes to commune centers.
