The Luu Quang Vu Drama Season is a place to reunite works that have contributed to creating the golden appearance of the country's stage and stirred the audience's thoughts.
The play He is not my father , from the original script written in 1988, is one of the last works in Luu Quang Vu's career. The play tells the story of a man who abandoned his wife and children. After many years of separation and many events, he returns to find his family. That family is once again turned upside down by the storm of calculations and greed. The father-child affection, the blood relationship that has just begun to be nurtured, is now facing destruction and breakage. The understanding, sharing, and humanity that Luu Quang Vu wanted to convey more than 30 years ago still exists as a truth of life.
The play Who is the culprit tells about the daily life of urban people in the 80s of the last century in Hanoi, surrounding the small lives in a collective area nicknamed "Phuong Ha Military Zone". A generation of young people born and raised in many different educational environments and living conditions... brought the fate of the characters to different turns in life, the content of the play partly provided an answer to the question "Who is the culprit?" of the phenomena of individual degeneration and negativity arising in life yesterday and today...
The play Blue Chrysanthemums on the Swamp contains many fictional elements revolving around the love triangle between Hoang-Lien-Van, close young friends who once had a time filled with memories of blue chrysanthemums on the swamp in the middle of a peaceful countryside. The play deals with artificial intelligence machines that have been penetrating deeper and deeper into social life, helping to bring a comfortable and complete life. But sometimes, just by that mechanical slice, people can also step into another system of values that erode sacred things, creating empty holes in their souls. The most prominent is the timeless message that the play conveys: "Happiness is what people really desire the most".
Live Forever 17 is the debut stage work of the talented playwright Luu Quang Vu, first introduced to the public at the Youth Theater more than 40 years ago about the image of the revolutionary hero Ly Tu Trong. The play takes us back to a glorious period nearly 100 years ago when the country was under the domination of French colonialism, when our people's lives were extremely miserable.
Forever 17 is not only a play about passionate patriotism but also inspires today's young people with determination and not to back down from the path they have chosen, facing the new mission of today's and tomorrow's generation of Vietnamese youth.
