DNVN - Speaking at the regular Government press conference in July on the afternoon of August 5, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang said that industrial production has not yet fully recovered. Some key manufacturing industries still decreased compared to the same period last year, such as smartphones, televisions, automobiles, raw iron and steel, etc.

According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, the growth rate of industrial production output in July 2024 was higher than that in June and reached the highest level since March 2011. The industrial production index in the first 7 months of the year increased by 8.5% over the same period last year, of which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 9.5%.

In the first 7 months of the year, industrial production grew across 60 localities. Some localities had high growth rates such as Khanh Hoa, Bac Giang, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh. Some key industrial products increased compared to the same period last year such as steel bars, angle steel, rolled steel, and natural fiber woven fabrics.

The industrial growth results reflect a very positive picture of domestic production. It can be seen that industrial production is recovering strongly compared to 2023 and is continuing to grow positively.

Industrial production index in the first 7 months of the year increased by 8.5% over the same period last year.

The above results were achieved thanks to the support measures and strong direction of the Government and the Prime Minister in disbursing public investment capital and implementing key industrial projects. Positive results in attracting and disbursing FDI capital helped increase the capacity of domestic production.

At the same time, that result also comes from outstanding results in economic foreign affairs, especially with major trade partners such as the US and China, helping to strengthen the confidence of investors and businesses.

However, according to the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, the industrial production sector will have to face the fact that the internal strength of the manufacturing sectors is still weak. There are not many domestic industrial products with high technology content.

At the same time, industrial production has not fully recovered. Some key manufacturing industries still decreased compared to the same period, such as smartphones, televisions, automobiles, crude steel, and draft beer. Some key export items (footwear, wood, phones of all kinds and components) have recovered positively but have not yet returned to the peak level of the same period in 2022.

To promote industrial production in the coming time, Ms. Thang emphasized that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will deploy many groups of solutions. That is, to continue to proactively and effectively implement business support policies approved by the Government, thereby removing difficulties and obstacles in production and business activities of enterprises.

Focus on advising on perfecting institutions, policies, laws, and development strategies for a number of fundamental industries. Prioritize the foundation for new growth resources for industries in the short and long term.

Continue to effectively implement working programs with localities and existing business support programs. At the same time, support businesses to continue taking advantage of opportunities from large public investment projects and the Government's real estate market recovery policies.
