Product catalog fully serves consumer needs
According to Euromonitor, Vietnam’s seasonings (fish sauce, soy sauce, and chili sauce) sales recorded a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 5% from 2018-2023, of which 4% was due to an increase in average selling price. However, Masan Consumer’s seasoning sales had a CAGR of 8% thanks to its strategy of innovation and product quality improvement. This market is forecast to continue to grow by 7-9% in the period of 2024-2026 and 6% in the period of 2027-2028.
In the convenience food industry, of which instant noodles are one of the largest segments worth 1.3 billion USD, in 2023, Masan Consumer increased its market share to 21% (from 19% in 2018). Although the market size is large, fierce competition requires Masan Consumer to constantly improve, upgrade and launch many product lines suitable for many segments and customer needs.
The beverage industry, including energy drinks and bottled drinks, is also one of Masan Consumer's bright spots. According to Euromonitor, the size of Vietnam's energy drinks market in 2023 will be VND18,738 billion (US$750 million). Of which, Wake-up 247 accounts for 10.3% of the market share. In 2020, Masan Consumer acquired 52% of Net Detergent JSC, officially entering the $3.9 billion home and personal care (HPC) market. This is a market where foreign brands have dominated for many years.
In 2023, Masan Consumer announced that HPC industry sales reached VND 1,810 billion, an increase of 18.3% compared to 2022. HPC products are currently mainly sold through modern retail channels, with the largest distribution system in the country of WinCommerce (a retail enterprise in the Masan ecosystem). This move will help increase brand awareness of Masan Consumer products and improve sales.
