These are 16 cocoa products of Xuan Ron Cho Gao Cocoa Company Limited (Cho Gao district, Tien Giang province).

Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee has just held a conference to evaluate and classify provincial OCOP products, phase 2, 2024.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tien Giang province, in the second phase of 2024, there are 36 evaluation and classification records with 36 products of 6 production entities in My Tho city, Chau Thanh district, Cai Be, Go Cong Tay and Cho Gao. Of which, there are 33 products for re-evaluation and 3 products for new evaluation and classification.

As a result, the evaluation council proposed to recognize 17 5-star OCOP products, 12 products were proposed to be considered for recognition as 4-star OCOP products. In addition, there are 7 products of Long Thuan Private Enterprise that need to supplement procedures to be eligible for consideration for recognition as 4-star OCOP products.

Specifically, the Dong Tam Snake Farm tourist destination product (of the Center for Medicinal Herbs Cultivation, Research and Processing, Department of Logistics, Military Region 9) and 16 products processed from cocoa (of Xuan Ron Cho Gao Cacao Company Limited) are eligible to participate in the evaluation and classification of 5-star products.

The products eligible for 4-star recognition are 1 Hoa Loc mango product of Hoa Loc Cooperative, 4 tea and grapefruit juice products of Long Thuan Private Enterprise, 6 bird's nest products of Tri Son Trading and Service Company Limited and 1 ST25 brown rice product of Vinh Hien Company Limited.

Representatives of the Department of Science and Technology and the Intellectual Property Office said they will support procedures to help businesses register products for recognition.

Along with that, Mr. Nguyen Tri Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tien Giang Province, recommended that Dong Tam Snake Farm products need to be skillfully applied and explained so as not to violate the Law on Biodiversity Conservation.

Mr. Dong also noted that for the environmental profile of 5-star OCOP products, waste must be collected and treated according to regulations. In addition, there must be a contract to treat waste from cocoa by-products, and a plan to treat expired products. For the Hoa Loc sand mango product, Mr. Dong also said that there must be a name to create a unique and special product of Tien Giang. There should be instructions on how to use it.

Businesses hope to soon be guided on new points to perfect their products and achieve OCOP criteria.

According to Long Thuan enterprise, Long Thuan's grapefruit essential oil is contained in a bottle shaped like a grenade. Although it has been registered for industrial design, it still faces many difficulties in exporting. This enterprise has requested support from the Department of Science and Technology.

Mr. Pham Van Trong, Vice Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Evaluation Council, suggested that the relevant departments should guide the company to supplement the procedures. In particular, pay attention to the products that are available and about to expire so that the company can complete the procedures. Enterprises need to pay attention to the story of the product so that the product stands out and attracts attention.

For OCOP products proposed for 5-star recognition, the subject needs to complete transparent and clear procedures to send to the Central Appraisal Council.

With Dong Tam Snake Farm's products, it is necessary to research more products to preserve rare snake species.
