In fact, not only Mrs. Dung's family and Mr. Hai's family, but also many migrant workers in big cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho... are also looking forward day and night to the North-South high-speed railway project to start construction soon, so that they can shorten the time to return to their hometown and reduce the pressure of renting accommodation in big cities.
The North-South high-speed railway project will help restructure population distribution between urban, suburban and rural areas; contributing to limiting migration from rural to urban areas.
Talking to Tien Phong reporter about the North-South high-speed railway project, Mr. Vu Hong Truong - General Director of Hanoi Metro Company Limited - said that the first effect that the North-South high-speed railway brings is to contribute to restructuring and redistributing the population between urban areas, suburban areas and rural areas, to limit the number of people migrating from rural areas to cities, helping to reduce the population density which is too high in cities; creating conditions for regional connectivity, linking cities with underdeveloped low-lying areas.
According to Mr. Truong, the project also contributes to Vietnam's move towards realizing the goal of zero net emissions by 2050 as the Government's international commitment to the international community, in order to respond to global climate change according to the Government's commitment.
In addition, putting the high-speed railway into operation will create a spearhead industry and a team of professional personnel to be able to implement the next phases of this project.

The head of Hanoi Metro said that for countries with long and narrow terrain like Vietnam or Japan, railways must be the main means of transport. However, in Vietnam, due to limited investment in railways in the past, this type of transport has not yet been able to play its role and mission in transporting passengers and goods from North to South.
Up to now, our country has had all the conditions to invest in high-speed railways. This meets the expectations of the people and authorities at all levels, especially those working in the railway industry.
According to Mr. Vu Hong Truong, the policy of building a high-speed North-South railway has been approved by the top leaders, so the project will certainly be successfully implemented. The efficiency brought about will not only be limited to transportation, but also bring financial efficiency and, more broadly, economic, social and environmental efficiency.
“With the participation of the entire political system, the concentration of resources, especially spiritual resources from localities and people, the North-South high-speed railway project will be implemented quickly and we will soon see the results,” said Mr. Truong.
