The inability to access the cloud computing platform provided by Microsoft has forced airlines to cancel many flights.
According to issue tracker Downdetector.com, thousands of users are reporting access issues related to Microsoft 365 apps and services.
On social network X, the Microsoft 365 Status account confirmed “an issue affected access to apps and services” of the company.
Meanwhile, on the status website of Azure - the cloud computing platform, Microsoft said the incident started around midnight Eastern time on July 18 (around 10am in Vietnam on July 19), affecting the entire system across the central United States.
In an update, the US tech giant said it had identified the cause of the problem and was working to restore access to users.
US low-cost airline Frontier said many of its flights, as well as those of other airlines, had to be cancelled due to “system issues caused by Microsoft”.
The US Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that Frontier has requested to suspend all departures nationwide on the evening of July 18 (US time).
In Vietnam, according to VietNamNet reporters, some airlines such as Vietjet Air and Bamboo were also affected and could not access flight information since 12:00 and could only restore it from around 14:00 (Vietnam time).
