The move was made after the investor and contractors discovered many unsafe incidents at the construction site, such as a second vandalism of the ship and theft of technical equipment.
According to MAUR, recently, metro line 1 through Thu Duc City has experienced a number of incidents such as theft and vandalism of contractors' property. Specifically, the metro train at Long Binh depot was graffitied for the second time, although the investor and contractors had taken many remedial measures after the first incident in June 2022. This shows that the subjects are still stubborn, looking for any loopholes in the security unit to break in and commit graffiti.
In addition, on metro line 1, there have also been incidents of theft of assets and equipment on the elevated section from Thao Dien station to Suoi Tien bus station. For example, thieves cut ground wires, removed sleeper anchors, etc.
"MAUR found that the security situation at the project was complicated, negatively affecting the image of the city's important project," the investor said.
Therefore, MAUR requests the People's Committee of Thu Duc City to direct the Thu Duc City Police to coordinate with the investor and contractor to coordinate regulations to ensure security and order for the metro project No. 1 section through the management area. The Thu Duc City Police will support the early investigation and tracking down of the above-mentioned subjects who have drawn graffiti and stolen property to ensure security, order and property of the project.
The construction progress of the entire metro line 1 project has reached about 95%. MAUR said that it is working with NJPT consultants and Japanese contractors to use all resources to speed up the project's implementation progress, aiming to complete 100% of the construction work this year, including installing the remaining equipment and completing the architecture of stations and pedestrian bridges along the entire route.
