Argentina has announced a 29-man squad for the 2024 Copa America. Coach Lionel Scaloni will remove three names when finalizing the official squad for the tournament next June.
Lionel Messi is still the center of attention in the Argentina squad. Alongside the 36-year-old superstar are still the 2022 World Cup winners such as De Paul, Di Maria, Mac Allister, Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez and Emiliano Martinez.
Among the new stars of the Argentina national team, the most prominent faces are striker Alejandro Garnacho of MU and defender Valentin Barco of Brighton.
However, coach Lionel Scaloni surprised everyone by not calling up Paulo Dybala, despite the striker's impressive form for AS Roma in the 2023/2024 season.
Argentina, the reigning Copa America champions, are expected to defend their title in this tournament. Lionel Messi and his teammates will start in Group A against Canada on June 21, then Chile on June 26 and Peru on June 30.
To prepare for Copa America 2024, the Argentina national team will play two friendly matches with Ecuador on June 10 and Guatemala on June 14.
