Bringing Spring from the Homeland to the Border

For every Vietnamese, Tet is an occasion for families to reunite, gather together to reminisce about the old year, share plans for the new year and give each other sweet and happy wishes. However, for soldiers on the border, Tet is a time when they put aside their personal happiness for the sake of their duty to keep the country safe. In the rear - their parents, wives, children and loved ones are always ready to share and shoulder the family's work so that they can work with peace of mind and complete their assigned tasks excellently.

Bringing Spring from the Homeland to the Border Family of Lieutenant Colonel Le Viet Xuan and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh

In the last days of the year, in the bustling atmosphere of Spring, every family is busy preparing to celebrate Tet. The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh in Zone 3, Vinh Lai Commune, Lam Thao District, the wife of Lieutenant Colonel Le Viet Xuan - Deputy Political Commissar of Economic - Defense Group 345, Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province and the mother of Lieutenant Le Viet Hoa - Financial Assistant of Chemical Brigade 88, is no exception. This year, both her husband and son cannot celebrate Tet with their family. Her daughter is married, so she is the only one celebrating Tet at home. However, everything in the house from shopping for furniture, arranging the ancestral altar, wrapping Chung cakes, preparing Tet gifts for both sides of the family... are all carefully and fully prepared by her.

Ms. Thanh confided: Although I miss my family members during Tet, I am very sad and miss my husband and children, but I am not discouraged. At home, I have carefully prepared everything to encourage my husband and children to work with peace of mind and complete their assigned tasks. I am very proud to have a husband and children at the border, dedicating themselves to the Fatherland.

The war has ended, the country is at peace, but the women who choose to spend their lives with soldiers always live far away from their husbands. Not minding the hardships, they still work hard at their daily jobs, being a solid support for their husbands to work with peace of mind. This year's Tet is the 10th year since Captain Chu Manh Ha, currently working at the 356th Economic - Defense Group, Phong Tho District, Lai Chau Province, returned to be a soldier's wife. It has also been that many years that Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Van Phu Ward, Viet Tri City, has replaced her husband as the pillar of the family, taking care of everything big and small in the house, taking care of and teaching the children to study and nurturing family happiness.

Ms. Lan Anh shared: During the time we were dating, my husband worked at the provincial military command. When we got married, I thought that he would still live close to home, if he was very busy, he would work at the unit and would be able to go home on holidays. But after only a few years, because of his duties, he was transferred to Lai Chau province. Although he works far from home, and this year he cannot go home to celebrate Tet with his family, I understand and sympathize with his work. People often say "Men build houses, women build nests", but as a soldier's wife, I accept to take care of all the housework, so that my husband can focus on his duties. These days before Tet, I have prepared everything, from decorating the house to buying new clothes for my two children, cooking typical Tet dishes with my parents to offer to the ancestral altar...

Bringing Spring from the Homeland to the Border Nguyen Thi Lan Anh's family took the opportunity to take photos before Tet when Captain Chu Manh Ha was able to visit home.

Mothers and wives of soldiers like Ms. Thanh, Ms. Lan Anh and other mothers and wives of soldiers are always the spiritual support, the solid rear for their husbands and children to feel secure in protecting the Fatherland. They have contributed to beautifying the qualities of Vietnamese women: "Confident, self-respecting, loyal, and responsible".

A new spring has come, even though we cannot gather with our families during Tet, but when we see our families celebrating Tet warmly and peacefully, surely the soldiers at the border will feel secure and determined to protect the Fatherland.
