Bright spot of temporary housing
Vice Chairman of the Commune Veterans Association Nguyen Huu Thang said that the entire commune has 9 houses built and repaired. The general plan of the district is to complete the demolition of temporary and dilapidated houses before June 30. Nghia Trung commune alone has a plan to build 9 houses, to be completed before April 15. To date, the commune has completed the construction of these houses on schedule and handed them over for use.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Xuy (83 years old), a household that received support to build a house, shared, “My family’s life is so difficult that we cannot build a house. Now, thanks to the support of the State, we can build this house. In the old house, it is hot in the dry season and leaky in the rainy season. When we hear that a storm is coming, we have to take shelter. It is so miserable!”

Special competition 90 days and nights
Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of Tu Nghia District, Tran Nam Giang, said that the district has 147 poor households, near-poor households, and policy families that need support to build new or repair houses. Of these, there are 87 households of people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs; 60 poor households, near-poor households.
According to Decision No. 21/2024/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the level of support for new construction or renovation and repair of houses for people with revolutionary contributions, relatives of martyrs and the rate of allocation of support capital from the central budget, the rate of counterpart support capital from the local budget for the period 2023 - 2025, with the regulation of the support level for new construction of 60 million VND; support of 30 million VND/household for cases of house renovation and repair... the need to implement the elimination of temporary houses and dilapidated houses in the district is more than 6 billion VND.

Up to now, the province has allocated 3.45 billion VND to Tu Nghia district, plus more than 1.35 billion VND (5% savings of the district), Tu Nghia district is implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. However, to ensure support for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the district, an additional 1.26 billion VND is needed. Faced with this reality, the district has mobilized businesses, agencies, units, organizations, and individuals to contribute, and has received more than 600 million VND for the program.
District Party Secretary Tran Quang Toa, Head of the Steering Committee, said that the district has launched a special emulation movement of 90 days and nights to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households and build houses for people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs.
The district assigned the Department of Home Affairs to coordinate with relevant sectors, agencies and units to regularly monitor the progress of repair and new construction, promptly direct local units to remove obstacles in the implementation process in localities. In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district is requested to actively mobilize philanthropists and businesses in the area to support funding. Communes and towns in the area must commit to ensuring the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in localities.
