Northwest University organizes a program to celebrate the traditional Bunpimay New Year

On the afternoon of April 13, Tay Bac University organized a program to celebrate the traditional Bunpimay New Year 2025 for Lao PDR students studying at the school.

Bunpimay, also known as Lao New Year, is one of the most important festivals of the year for the Lao people. This is the traditional New Year according to the Buddhist calendar and usually takes place in mid-April of the solar calendar.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Tay Bac University has 340 Laotian students studying at undergraduate, master's, and preparatory Vietnamese language levels with many majors, such as: Pedagogy, economics, agriculture, forestry, information technology... The school always creates conditions to take care of life, ensuring the best learning and living conditions for Laotian students. At the program, delegates and Laotian students reviewed the traditional Bunpimay New Year tradition and the steadfast affection and special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general, Son La province and the northern provinces of Laos in particular. Cultural and artistic exchanges, performing traditional rituals, such as: blessing, tying wrist strings, cultural exchanges with songs praising the solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Laos. The traditional Bunpimay New Year celebration is held annually, creating a joyful, exciting atmosphere, encouraging and motivating the learning spirit of Lao students studying at the school.

On this occasion, Tay Bac University and the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education presented Certificates of Merit to 20 Laotian students with outstanding academic and training achievements; the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Police presented gifts to the Laotian students./.
