Man Utd warned not to buy Neymar

Former striker Louis Saha believes that coach Erik ten Hag will find it difficult to control Neymar if Man Utd recruit him.

"Neymar is a superstar because of his talent but also a difficult player to manage," Saha wrote in OLBG . "Neymar has been like that since his time at Barca. Maybe that changes over the years. Coaching Neymar is not easy. With all due respect, I don't think Neymar can adapt to Man Utd, but that's what he has to do."

On May 22, French newspaper L'Équipe reported that Man Utd are considering a loan deal for Neymar from PSG, possibly with a buyout clause. The Old Trafford team is willing to pay part of the Brazilian striker's salary. Neymar was recruited by PSG for a record $263 million in 2017. But the 31-year-old striker has not performed as expected. His contributions on the field are accompanied by scandals off the field. PSG is willing to listen to offers for Neymar because they want to part with him this summer.

However, finding a new destination for Neymar is not easy. His injury history has made his ability to play at the top level doubtful. Neymar has only played more than half the number of matches compared to his teammate Kylian Mbappe. Since leaving Barca, he has missed more than 20 matches almost every season due to injuries in different positions, mainly ankles and hips.

"The club that buys Neymar will be betting a lot of money. When they put such a player on the transfer list, they need a guarantee. Neymar may be a blockbuster, but he needs to ensure he plays well in the last three months of the season, because that's when he's competing for the title," Saha said.

Neymar had surgery on his right ankle in March and will be out for the rest of the season. Midfielder Casemiro is now urging the Man Utd board to bring his compatriot to Old Trafford. If he doesn't go to Man Utd, Neymar's next destination is likely to be the Premier League, as there is no other league that can meet his salary. According to Marca , Neymar is earning $78 million a year, before tax, in a contract that runs until the summer of 2027.
