On August 16, the program "Mai Vang Tri An" organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper with the support of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank visited and presented gifts to poet Thanh Thao (77 years old, residing in Quang Ngai province).
Thanh Thao is a famous poet from Quang Ngai who is admired by many readers; his poetry career has left a special mark in the hearts of readers with many immortal works.
Under the witness of Mr. Truong Hoa Binh - former member of the Politburo, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Mr. To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, presented the support money (10 million VND) to poet Thanh Thao.

Moved by the gift from the program, poet Thanh Thao said that this is a recognition and at the same time a great encouragement for writers and artists. "I hope the program will spread more widely, promptly encourage and support writers and artists so that we have more faith and love, more support to continue to contribute to life" - poet Thanh Thao said.
Poet Thanh Thao, whose birth name is Ho Thanh Cong, was born in 1946 into a family with a revolutionary tradition in Duc Tan commune, Mo Duc district, Quang Ngai province. After graduating from the Faculty of Literature, Hanoi University, he went to the southern battlefield to work as a journalist and write literature.
Thanh Thao is a versatile writer, writing in many genres but his forte is still poetry. He was particularly successful with a number of long poems written after the country's reunification. Thanh Thao's poetry is the voice of an intellectual with many thoughts and concerns about social and contemporary issues. Some of his works include: "Those who go to the sea" (1977), "Footprints through the grass field" (1978), "Sun waves" (1981), "Ruby cube" (1985), "From one to one hundred" (1988).
In particular, the poem "Lorca's Guitar" in his poetry collection "Ruby's Cube" (1985) left many impressions on readers. The poem is included in the national high school literature curriculum.
Poet Thanh Thao used to be the President of the Quang Ngai Literature and Arts Association and Vice President of the Poetry Council of the Vietnam Writers Association. In recent years, Thanh Thao has continued to write poetry and articles, critical essays and many other genres.
Poet Thanh Thao received the State Prize (first round) in 2001; the Vietnam Writers' Association Prize for the poetry collection "Footprints through the Grassland" in 1979; the National Defense and Security Literature Committee Prize, Vietnam Writers' Association in 1995 for the epic poem "Sun Waves"; the National Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations Prize, the Vietnam Writers' Association Prize and the Vietnam Music Association Prize for the collection "Barefoot Epic" (2012); the Southeast Asian Literature Prize in 2014...
