In the world region, on the FIFA rankings for December and the end of 2024, the Vietnamese women's team still holds the 37th position and is ranked 6th in Asia. This position helps coach Mai Duc Chung's team continue to dominate the top position in Southeast Asia for many years.

The Thai women's team is currently ranked 3rd in the region, 45th in the world and 9th in Asia, behind the Philippines women's team, although the team dropped 2 places to 41st in the world and 7th in Asia.
Faced with this situation, the President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), Madam Pang (billionaire Nualphan Lamsam) is very uneasy and has taken special action in the hope of bringing women's football in this country back to its golden age.
Accordingly, Madam Pang has established a special group of scouts tasked with searching for and selecting players of Thai origin from all over the world to supplement the Thai women's team.
The ambition of the female billionaire, who is currently the President of FAT, is to bring the Thai women's team back to the World Cup after an absence in 2023. The 2023 Women's World Cup is also the first time the Vietnamese women's team has qualified to participate.
In the upcoming Women's World Cup in 2027, which will take place in Brazil, the Asian region will have 6 places to participate in the final round, including 2 places in the play-off round. The Vietnamese women's team is in the process of rebuilding its force towards a second consecutive World Cup berth.
Meanwhile, the Thai women's team is being carried out by Madam Pang in a campaign called "Road to Brazil 2027", when inviting players of Thai origin around the world to submit their profiles for the FAT technical team to review and evaluate before selection.
FIFA rankings for December 2024, with the Vietnamese women's team ranked No. 1 in Southeast Asia
In the announcement, FAT said that this football agency will receive the profiles of female players of Thai origin from January 17, 2025. After that, they will undergo tests and selection to join the Thai women's team to prepare for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.
Similar to the Thai women's team, the Indonesian women's team has recently been promoted by the country's football authority (PSSI) to naturalize players like the men's team. After winning the AFF Cup 2024 championship held in Laos recently, the Indonesian women's team has risen 7 places into the world's top 100 and ranked 5th in Southeast Asia.
The rise and the start of a major change in the strength of the Indonesian women's team shows that they are aiming to compete with the Vietnamese, Thai or Philippine women's teams in regional tournaments. Further, it will be the competition for a place in the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.
