Currently, Long An has started construction of 5/6 bridges on Provincial Road 831.
Traffic instructions during the dismantling of bridges N1 and N2 on Provincial Road 831
On April 3, the Long An Department of Construction announced the temporary suspension of traffic to build new bridges N1 and N2 on DT831 route, Vinh Hung district. Currently, the construction unit is dismantling and relocating the existing bridges N1 and N2 to build a temporary bridge to serve traffic during the construction of the new bridge.
The Department of Construction announced the temporary suspension of all vehicles including pedestrians from participating in traffic on N1 bridge from 7:00 a.m. on April 15, 2025 to April 24, 2025 and N2 bridge from 7:00 a.m. on April 4, 2025 to April 14, 2025.
During the time of dismantling the existing N1 and N2 bridges on DT831 route to make a temporary bridge, the Department of Construction will also announce specific directions if vehicles, including pedestrians, need to travel on DT831 route to Tan Hung town and vice versa.
Specifically, for rudimentary vehicles and two-wheeled vehicles moving in the direction from Vinh Hung town → DT831 → across the existing Mang Da canal bridge → across the West Bank road of Mang Da canal → DT831 → Tan Hung town and vice versa.
For vehicles with a load capacity of less than 8 tons, move in the direction from DT831 (Long Khot intersection) through Kenh 28 bridge (Vinh Binh commune) → Kenh 504 parallel road → Kenh 504 bridge → DT831 (Cai Mon bridge) → Tan Hung town and vice versa.
For vehicles with a load capacity of 8 tons or more moving in the direction from Vinh Hung town → DT831 → QL62 → DT819 (road along old Canal 79) → Tan Hung town and vice versa.
After the completion of temporary bridges N1 and N2, vehicles with a load capacity of less than 8 tons and pedestrians will be allowed to pass through these two temporary bridges.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Construction - Nguyen Thanh Ngoan, the Department requires that during the construction process, DMA Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (the construction unit) must fully arrange signs, directional signs according to regulations, barriers and people on duty at both ends of the bridge and on the canal in the bridge construction area to guide vehicles and people participating in road and waterway traffic to ensure smooth traffic, no congestion, and no traffic safety at the bridge construction site.
The iron bridges on Provincial Road 831 have been invested in construction, replaced by concrete and reinforced steel bridges.
"The Department assigns the Department Inspectorate to regularly inspect and handle violations that cause traffic jams and unsafe traffic at the above locations," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngoan.
The Department of Construction also recommends that people and vehicles comply with traffic signs and instructions on the road to avoid congestion and ensure traffic safety.
Replace the entire old iron bridge system on Provincial Road 831
According to the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the investment in the construction of bridges N1 and N2 started on October 29, 2024 and is expected to be completed on November 30, 2025. These are 2 bridges belonging to the project to build 6 concrete and reinforced bridges on route DT831 to replace the remaining iron bridge and iron surface, which has been approved by the province for investment in 2023.
According to the plan, the 6-bridge project will be invested in and completed in the period of 2024-2027. Of which, Kenh 79 bridge is more than 133m long, the bridge deck is 11m wide; Kenh 28 bridge in Vinh Hung district is more than 87m long, the bridge deck is 11m wide; the remaining 4 bridges: Choi Moi, Ong Muoi Tam, Kenh N1 and Kenh N2, each bridge is nearly 57m long, the bridge deck is 10m wide.
The iron bridges on Provincial Road 831 no longer meet the needs of travel and freight transport.
The total investment for the construction of 6 bridges on DT831 is nearly 287 billion VND. Of which, the cost of site clearance is nearly 1.8 billion VND, the construction cost is more than 209.5 billion VND. The project investment capital comes from the provincial budget and mobilizes other legal capital sources. According to the plan, all 6 bridges will start construction in 2024 and 2025.
Deputy Director of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board - Tran Thien Truc said: "Up to now, 5/6 bridges have started construction and the construction unit is making efforts to ensure the set progress. Currently, only the bridge over canal 79 has not started construction. However, at present, the steps and procedures have been basically completed to start construction soon in the near future"./.
DT831 is the main and important traffic axis in Vinh Hung and Tan Hung districts, connecting to the border routes and to Tan Phuoc district (Dong Thap province). However, the current status of this route in recent years is still 6 iron bridges, steel decks including: Kenh 28 Bridge, Kenh N1 Bridge, Kenh N2 Bridge, Choi Moi Bridge, Ong Muoi Tam Bridge (Vinh Hung district) and Kenh 79 Bridge (Tan Hung district). These iron bridges often quickly deteriorate, break down and become too outdated compared to the development and travel and freight transport needs of people and businesses. In addition, there are many potential risks of traffic accidents. Recently, the investment project to build concrete and reinforced steel bridges to replace existing iron bridges has been implemented, bringing great joy to the people and local authorities, and at the same time creating new development momentum. |
