From now until the end of 2024, there are 11 key traffic projects that are targeted to be completed and put into operation. Contractors are racing against time to complete the final items.
According to Giao Thong Newspaper reporters, at the construction sites of key traffic projects, workers and machinery are speeding up construction progress to ensure project progress.

Many projects are progressing well.
In the South of Ho Chi Minh City, the two bridges Phuoc Long and Rach Dia (connecting District 7 and Nha Be District) are moving towards the finish line. Currently, 10/10 piers of Phuoc Long Bridge have been completed, and 7/9 bridge spans have been installed with girders.

The construction unit has also completed the roadbed and retaining wall in Nha Be district; and is continuing to construct the remaining part in District 7. Items such as constructing the bridge deck, installing railings, preparing asphalt, completing piers and installing beams, etc. are being accelerated. The total progress of the project has reached about 80%, expected to be completed in 2024.
Similarly, the main items of Rach Dia Bridge have also been completed, the bridge spans have been joined together, connecting the two banks. Currently, the construction unit is urgently completing the final auxiliary items to open this bridge to traffic in December.
Also in the south of the city, the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho tunnel project (District 7) has reached about 83% progress. The entire project will be completed before December 31 as planned. This is one of the projects with quite good progress. Previously, a tunnel branch of this project was opened to traffic on October 4.

In the East of the city, a section of Tang Long Bridge is under construction to open to traffic in 2024. According to information from the Traffic Department, the contractor is currently laying the girders of the border span, and will then complete the bridge deck.
At the gateway to Tan Son Nhat airport, the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa road project has so far achieved 85% construction output. The investor said that this project has some construction packages that are ahead of schedule compared to the contract. However, compensation and site clearance for the project have not been completed yet, and there are still some households that have not been relocated.
Similarly, at the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 50 (Binh Chanh District), the total progress has reached about 56% of the work volume. Construction packages 1, 2, 3, 4 for the parallel section have an output of 75%. Meanwhile, packages 5, 6, 7 for the existing National Highway 50 expansion section have an output of 19%. This project is also facing difficulties due to land issues of 15 households as well as technical infrastructure issues such as electricity, water, and telecommunications.
Particularly at An Phu intersection, according to the plan, the project will open the HC1 underpass at the end of 2024. However, the XL5 package for the construction of the HC1-01 underpass has only completed pillars K1 to K8, K14 to K19, and is currently constructing K12 and K13. The output of this package is about 64%, and is expected to open to traffic in January 2025.
Having trouble because of the electric pole
At the Duong Quang Ham Street expansion project (Go Vap District), construction materials are piled up along the route; machinery, equipment and workers are working day and night.

According to the Traffic Department, contractors are currently focusing on constructing items such as drainage systems and road expansion within the area that has been handed over by the locality, striving to complete the work in 2024. However, this project is stuck in the relocation of the medium and low voltage power grid system.
Although the Traffic Department set a target of finishing in 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Power Distribution Project Management Board (Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation) affirmed that the unit cannot complete the relocation and undergrounding of the power system in 2024. To complete the relocation and undergrounding of the power grid system of this project, the Ho Chi Minh City Power Distribution Project Management Board must take about 6 months from the time of receiving the entire site.
It is expected that by the second quarter of 2025, the electric pole system on Duong Quang Ham Street will be completely relocated so that the road can be truly completed.
Ba Hom Bridge is still in disarray even though it is only a month away from opening to traffic as planned. Photo: My Quynh.
At the Ba Hom Bridge construction project, although the opening date is approaching, the bridge is still in disarray. The two ends of the bridge have not been constructed or closed; construction materials are piled up... Regarding the progress of this project, the Traffic Department said it has reached 70%, the contractor is currently constructing the upper structure of the main bridge and completing the expanded road surface as well as the sidewalk.
The Tan Ky - Tan Quy road expansion project, which is expected to form a traffic axis connecting National Highway 1A to the city center and Tan Son Nhat International Airport, is also slowly approaching the finish line. The items on the road are almost complete, except for the electric pole system that is still being constructed and relocated by the electricity company.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City Electricity has completed the construction, energized the underground power grid, completed the recovery of the medium and low voltage grids and power poles on the left side of Tan Ky - Tan Quy road (from Binh Long road to Ma Lo road). Particularly, the right side, the section from Nuoc Den canal to Ma Lo road is under construction, and the recovery of poles is expected to be completed in mid-November 2024.
By the end of December 2024, a series of key projects are expected to be completed, including: Tan Ky - Tan Quy bridge (Binh Tan district), Phuoc Long, Rach Dia (connecting district 7 and Nha Be district); Tang Long (Thu Duc city); HC1 tunnel and the entire Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection (district 7); Tran Quoc Hoan street - Cong Hoa street (Tan Binh district); Duong Quang Ham (Go Vap district); 4.3km of parallel road of National Highway 50 under the project to build and expand National Highway 50 (Binh Chanh district); HC1 underpass of the An Phu traffic intersection construction project (Thu Duc city).
