Vietnam Football Federation has new General Secretary

(Dan Tri) - The 7th Congress of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) term 9 agreed to allow General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi to withdraw.

The withdrawal of General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi from his current position will be approved by VFF at the organization's Annual Congress, taking place this morning (November 22).

Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi unexpectedly took the position of VFF General Secretary at the beginning of the 9th term, replacing Mr. Le Hoai Anh. Previously, Mr. Khoi held the position of Head of the Organizing Committee (OC) of the V-League.

During his tenure, Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi was famous for being meticulous and knowledgeable about Vietnamese football, having good relationships with many domestic football clubs and many domestic sports officials.

Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi's limitation is that he is not good at foreign languages, while the position of General Secretary is a position that often requires foreign affairs with international football organizations and international football federations, so he needs someone who is good at foreign languages.

The person replacing Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi as VFF General Secretary after the VFF Annual Congress this morning is Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, Head of the VFF Medical Department. Before being appointed as VFF General Secretary, Mr. Nguyen Van Phu was holding the position of Deputy Head of the VFF Medical Department and Head of the VFF Sports Medicine Department.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phu is considered to have extensive experience in management when he held the following positions: Head of the Department of Sports Medicine - Physical Therapy, Vietnam Sports Hospital; Secretary of the Clinical Department Party Cell, Party Committee of Vietnam Sports Hospital; Deputy Director of Sports Hospital; Secretary of the Party Cell, Director of the Center for Doping and Sports Medicine.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phu is also known as one of the officials actively participating in international football activities as a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Medical Committee and many professional events on Sports Medicine domestically and internationally.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phu officially started working as VFF General Secretary from November 23 until the end of the 9th VFF term. This decision was officially announced at the 2024 VFF Annual Congress held this morning (November 22) at VFF headquarters.
