After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, professors, doctors and his family, due to old age and poor health, Mr. Le Phuoc Tho, former member of the Politburo, former Head of the Central Organization Committee, passed away on the morning of July 6 at his home in Can Tho City, at the age of 96.
With more than 70 years of revolutionary activities, Mr. Le Phuoc Tho has made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
Mr. Le Phuoc Tho (alias Sau Hau), born on December 25, 1927; hometown Tan Loc commune, Ca Mau district, Minh Hai (now Thoi Binh district, Ca Mau). He participated in the August Revolution in 1945, joined the Party on February 10, 1949.
During his working process, Mr. Le Phuoc Tho was an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, term IV; member of the Party Central Committee, term V, VI, VII; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, term VI, VII; member of the Politburo, term VII; Head of the Central Organization Committee; Head of Committees VIII, IX.
With over 70 years of revolutionary activities, Mr. Le Phuoc Tho has made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal, the 75-year Party membership badge and many other noble medals and orders by the Party and the State.
The funeral of Mr. Le Phuoc Tho was held according to the State funeral ceremony. His coffin was placed at the Can Tho City Party Committee Hall (No. 1 Quang Trung Street, Tan An Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City). The visitation ceremony was held at 8:00 a.m. on July 7. The memorial service was held at 6:00 a.m. on July 9. After that, there was a funeral procession, bringing his coffin back to his hometown cemetery in Hamlet 5, Tan Loc Dong Commune, Thoi Binh District, Ca Mau.
