The President and the working delegation inspected important preparations for the funeral, memorial service and burial of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

On July 24, President To Lam inspected preparations for the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at Mai Dich cemetery (Hanoi).
Also participating in the inspection delegation were Chief of the Party Central Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Deputy Minister of National Defense Le Huy Vinh; Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army Nguyen Van Nghia.
President To Lam offered incense at the Fatherland Monument to honor, remember and pay tribute to the late Party and State leaders who are resting in Mai Dich cemetery.
Next, the President and the delegation inspected important preparations for the funeral, memorial service and burial of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The authorities are urgently completing the work to prepare for the funeral. Along with that, all plans to ensure absolute security and safety for the funeral are also ready.
President To Lam requested the Funeral Organizing Committee and relevant agencies, with responsibility and affection for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, to enhance their sense of responsibility and prepare safely and carefully for the visitation ceremony, memorial service and burial ceremony for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, which will take place over two days from July 25-26.
According to the special announcement on the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, at exactly 3:00 p.m. on July 26, the funeral of the General Secretary will take place at Mai Dich cemetery. The funeral committee consists of 35 members headed by President To Lam.
The Funeral Organizing Committee consists of 27 members, headed by Politburo member and Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Luong Cuong. The two deputy heads are Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai and Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc.
Mai Dich Cemetery was built in 1956 with a total area of 5.9 hectares to collect the graves of martyrs from the anti-French period of Hanoi city.
In 1982, the cemetery was renovated and the tomb areas were planned to serve the burial of high-ranking officials.
This is the burial place of high-ranking officials including the General Secretary, President, National Assembly Chairman, Prime Minister, scientists, cultural figures, writers, poets who received the Ho Chi Minh Prize, outstanding generals, and heroes of the armed forces./.
