Festival of King Hung teaching people to plant rice

On February 12 (January 15, At Ty year), at Dan Tich Dien, Minh Nong ward, Viet Tri city, the Hung King taught people to plant rice festival took place. This is the only festival with typical characteristics, representing the beginning of wet rice cultivation of Vietnamese agricultural residents, associated with the Hung King era.

This is one of the typical festivals of Viet Tri city.

The festival of King Hung teaching people to plant rice consists of 2 parts: The ceremony, the rituals from the Proclamation, worshiping the God of Agriculture to the sacrificial activities, especially the reenactment of "King Hung teaching people to plant rice" is conducted solemnly. Next, the festival takes place the rice planting competitions of the teams and folk games with the participation of many people and tourists from all over.

Restored by Viet Tri city since 2018, the festival is typical and represents the origin of Vietnamese rice cultivation associated with the Hung King era; is a cultural heritage that the province cares about and preserves; creates a highlight for festival activities, contributing to building Viet Tri into a Festival City returning to the roots of the Vietnamese people.

The opening is the procession of offerings from the people of Minh Nong ward to the Altar of Tich Dien.

The ceremony was solemnly held with rituals such as Cao Nieu and worshiping Than Nong to express gratitude to the Hung Kings who had the merit of inventing wet rice cultivation for our nation.

The ceremony of King Hung teaching people to plant rice was held solemnly.

This year is the first year that old farmer Nguyen Quyet Chi in Hoa Phong area, Minh Nong ward has taken on the role of a spirit possessor, playing the role of King Hung.

The ceremony of King Hung teaching people to grow rice is solemnly held every year with 2 competing teams. The team that wins first prize will be awarded by King Hung to encourage people to actively preserve the profession of growing wet rice.
