BTO - On the morning of September 1, 2023, Van Hoi Ta Tan (Phan Ri Cua town) organized a fishing festival with solemn worship rituals, attracting a large number of people from inside and outside the locality to attend.
With its unique values and meanings, the Cau Ngu Festival takes place from September 1-3, 2023 (July 17-19 of the lunar calendar), with many diverse activities, including the ceremony: Welcoming the order of the Southern Sea God; Worshiping the ancestors, Worshiping the spirit, Great altar, King worship and Completion...; the festival at the main space of the Van Festival with the activities of Rowing and opening the Hat Boi relationship.
Van Ta Tan has a history of 206 years (since 1817), and was granted 16 royal decrees by the dynasties of Minh Mang, Thieu Tri, Tu Duc, Dong Khanh, Thanh Thai, Duy Tan, Khai Dinh, Bao Dai...; every year there are 3 rituals of worship according to the lunar calendar: the first ritual of the season on April 17, the great ritual of July 17 (the main ritual of praying for fish) and October 25 to guide people back to their roots, ancestors and strengthen the friendship and mutual aid. Van Ta Tan is the place to preserve hundreds of skeletons of Ong Nam Hai, including skeletons weighing several tons. In 2008, Van Ta Tan was granted a Provincial-level Cultural Heritage Historical Relic Certificate by Binh Thuan province.
The Cau Ngu Festival in Van Ta Tan represents the belief and aspiration of seafaring people for favorable weather, bountiful crops, peace and luck in the process of catching seafood at sea.
