On December 17, speaking to the press, Mr. Dinh Van Dang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ha District (Lao Cai), said that the government is meeting to come up with solutions after a report about the situation where students at Hoang Thu Pho 1 Primary Boarding School (Bac Ha District) have meals that do not meet quality standards, and even show signs of being cut.
Each tray has 11 children fighting over 2 packs of instant noodles cooked thinly with rice.
Meanwhile, Ms. Duong Bich Nguyet, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province, said that the unit is coordinating with the Bac Ha district government and directing relevant units to clarify the above incident.
"Our view is to strictly handle any violations, if any. When we have complete information, we will provide it to the press," Ms. Nguyet affirmed.
Lao Cai verifies case of boarding students lacking food, using leaves instead of paper
Previously, on December 16, the program 24-hour Movement (Vietnam Television) reported that the meals of students at Hoang Thu Pho 1 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities showed signs of being cut.
Specifically, during breakfast at the boarding kitchen, each tray had 11 children fighting over 2 packs of instant noodles cooked thinly with rice. Although the menu and financial disclosure clearly stated that 174 boarding students were entitled to 1 pack of instant noodles and 1 egg for breakfast, according to the person in charge of cooking, the situation of food shortage for students often occurred.
Not only breakfast, lunch and dinner for 11 people each only have a little bit of chopped ham and a pot of soup. However, the principal of Hoang Thu Pho 1 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities thinks that is enough.
"Not only was there not enough meat and fish, but even cheap things like vegetables for the students to eat were rotten and spoiled. Many students were mobilized to go to the kitchen to pick out the rotten vegetables, but there was not much edible food left.

The principal denied it, but the person in charge of cooking confirmed that these were vegetables prepared to cook for the students. There was not enough food in terms of quality and quantity, and even sensitive things like toilet paper were not enough. Therefore, many students in the school had the initiative to use chayote leaves, which were readily available in the school yard, instead of paper," Chuyen Dong 24 Gio posted.
