Measles is at risk of spreading, localities are actively applying measures to prevent and create community immunity.
Lang Son speeds up vaccination
From the beginning of 2025 to March 30, Lang Son detected 19 cases of measles, with rash symptoms suspected of measles.
The provincial health sector is accelerating the implementation of the measles vaccination campaign in 11 districts and cities, striving to achieve the target of 95% of children of the right age to be vaccinated against measles, ensuring community immunity and preventing the spread of this disease.
In communes, wards and towns of Lang Son province, health stations have simultaneously organized measles vaccination for children. Local health facilities have also coordinated with schools to implement measles vaccination for students right at school, because through screening, in many schools there are still a large number of children of the right age who have not been fully vaccinated.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung (Chi Lang Ward, Lang Son City) has a child studying in grade 3 at Chi Lang Primary School. He said that when there was information that measles was breaking out and spreading rapidly in many provinces and cities across the country, his family reviewed the vaccination records and discovered that his child had not been vaccinated against measles. He took his child to get vaccinated.
Mr. Hung said that the organization of measles vaccinations at the school for about 200 students by the ward health station and the school was very convenient because the students could take advantage of the time to go to the vaccination room, then return to class to continue studying.
According to Dr. Be Van Khanh, Director of Trang Dinh District Medical Center, to prevent measles outbreaks and spread, the Center has promoted and raised people's awareness of measles prevention and control; at the same time, directed 20/20 medical stations to do a good job of monitoring, detecting, and handling promptly, not allowing measles to spread in the community.
On March 25, the Center launched a measles vaccination campaign at commune and town health stations. As of March 30, the entire district had administered 588 doses of measles vaccine.
Doctor Duong Anh Dung, Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Lang Son Province Center for Disease Control, said that along with regular expanded immunization, as soon as receiving 25,000 doses of measles vaccine from the Ministry of Health, on March 24-25, the Center allocated all vaccines to districts and cities and immediately launched a measles vaccination campaign, including on weekends.
The province strives to have 95% of children who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine as prescribed to be vaccinated with 1 dose of measles-containing vaccine by March 31.
As of 4 p.m. on March 30, the province had administered 10,248 doses, reaching 90.2%. Doctor Duong Anh Dung warned that in reality, more than 50% of measles and suspected measles cases detected in the province since the beginning of the year have not been vaccinated against measles.
Therefore, people need to raise awareness of measles prevention, absolutely not be negligent or subjective in the face of the complicated developments of this epidemic; especially take children in the age group of 6-9 months, 1-5 years and 6-10 years to get fully vaccinated against measles.
Along with that, parents also need to improve nutrition; keep their children's body, nose, throat, eyes and mouth clean; and ensure a clean, airy living environment.
When detecting signs of fever, cough, runny nose, rash in children, parents need to isolate them early and take them to the nearest medical facility for examination, consultation and timely treatment.
Quang Ninh completes vaccination target for children
According to the Department of Health of Quang Ninh province, as of the afternoon of March 30, the entire province had completed the target of the measles vaccination campaign for children from 6 months to 10 years old, reaching 95.9% of the plan.

In particular, many localities have completed the measles vaccination campaign at 100% such as Dong Trieu city, Quang Yen town, Binh Lieu district.
The remaining localities all have vaccination rates of 92% or higher. The whole province recorded 71 cases of normal reactions, currently their health is stable, no severe reactions after vaccination were recorded.
On March 31, local health centers continued to vaccinate children who were transient, or in localities that had not yet reached the rate such as Ha Long city, Uong Bi city, and Van Don district to ensure safety and increase community immunity.
In the face of the measles outbreak, since mid-March 2025, the Quang Ninh Provincial Health Department has proactively accelerated measles vaccination on a large scale, aiming to complete measles vaccination for children of all ages by March 30, focusing on localities with high measles cases such as Ha Long city, Mong Cai city, Cam Pha city, and Quang Yen town.
In this measles vaccination campaign, by the end of March 2025, Quang Ninh will have injected over 27,000 measles and measles-rubella vaccines into the subjects./.
