Disciplinary action against 2 former Chairmen of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee

Specifically, in Decision 1217/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister decided to discipline Mr. Huynh Duc Hoa, former Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee for the 2004-2011 term, with a Warning for his violations and shortcomings in his work and for which he was subject to Party discipline; the disciplinary period is from the date of announcement of Decision No. 1662-QD/UBKTTW dated August 14, 2024 of the Central Inspection Commission.

In Decision 1218/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister decided to discipline Mr. Doan Van Viet, former Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee for the 2011-2016 and 2016-2021 terms, with a Warning, for violations and shortcomings in his work and for which he was subject to Party discipline; the disciplinary period is from the date of announcement of Decision No. 1663-QD/UBKTTW dated August 14, 2024 of the Central Inspection Commission.

The above Decisions take effect from October 18, 2024.

Previously, the Central Inspection Commission held its 45th meeting. At this meeting, the Central Inspection Commission reviewed the inspection results when there were signs of violations and the review results, and proposed disciplinary action against the Party Executive Committee of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee.

Accordingly, the Central Inspection Commission found that the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Party Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations; lacked responsibility and loosened leadership and direction, allowing the Provincial People's Committee and many organizations and individuals to seriously violate Party regulations and State laws in the management and use of land for a number of investment projects in the province; allowing many Party organizations and Party members to be disciplined, and many officials and Party members to be criminally prosecuted for violations and shortcomings in the case of "Giving and receiving bribes; taking advantage of positions and powers while performing official duties" occurring at the Dai Ninh Urban Area Project in Lam Dong Province and related localities and units.

The above violations have caused serious consequences that are difficult to overcome, with a risk of huge losses of State money and assets, causing bad public opinion, reducing the prestige of the Party organization and local government, to the point of requiring consideration and disciplinary action.

The individuals responsible for the above violations and shortcomings include: Mr. Huynh Duc Hoa, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Doan Van Viet, former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Considering the content, nature, level, consequences, and causes of the violation; based on Party regulations, the Central Inspection Committee decided to impose a disciplinary warning on Mr. Huynh Duc Hoa and Mr. Doan Van Viet.
