Accumulated from the beginning of the year to mid-September, the import-export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached about 69.84 billion USD. Vietnam is having a trade surplus of nearly 12.4 billion USD for these products.
According to calculations from data published by the General Department of Customs, in the first half of September 2024, the import-export turnover of Vietnam's main agricultural, forestry and fishery products is estimated at about 1.48 billion USD. Of which, exports reached 1.03 billion USD and imports reached 448 million USD.
Thus, the cumulative import-export turnover from the beginning of the year to September 15 of Vietnam's main agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached about 69.84 billion USD. Of which, exports reached about 41.11 billion USD; imports reached 28.72 billion USD.
Statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development show that by the end of August 2024, the growth rate of export turnover of major agricultural and aquatic products reached 18.6% over the same period last year. The growth rate of import turnover was about 5.6%.
Based on statistics up to mid-September, Vietnam is currently having a trade surplus of nearly 12.4 billion USD for key agricultural, forestry and fishery products.
Among the export items, up to now, wood and forestry products have the highest export turnover (about 10.9 billion USD), seafood products ranked second with about 6.68 billion USD. Next are the items: vegetables, coffee and rice with export turnover of 5.18 billion USD; 4.13 billion USD and 4.06 billion USD respectively. Other items such as cashew nuts and rubber are also currently having export turnover reaching nearly 3 billion USD (cashew nuts) and 2 billion USD respectively.

On the import side, currently animal feed and raw materials are the items with the largest import turnover (3.45 billion USD), followed by cashew nuts (about 2.55 billion USD). In addition, Vietnamese enterprises also spend about 1.75 billion USD and 1.54 billion USD to import seafood and vegetables.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development believes that with the current growth rate of export turnover, it is likely that in the coming months, many agricultural, forestry and fishery products will have a breakthrough growth rate due to the end-of-year crop season. Therefore, the forecast of the export turnover target of 55 billion USD of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in 2024 will soon be reached.
