As May comes, Kim Lien hometown (Nam Dan, Nghe An) becomes more beautiful than ever. Among the pilgrims returning to Uncle Ho's hometown today, the lotus scent spreads, lingering through thousands of sparkling faces and the nostalgic hearts of visitors from near and far.
...
We arrived at Hoang Tru village (Kim Lien, Nam Dan) on a May morning, when the first rays of sunlight of the new day fell on the yellow rice fields, glittering with dew. Uncle Ho's maternal hometown appeared with a bright picture of prosperity and spaciousness. Along the green new rural roads were lotus ponds beginning to bloom, the lotus scent spreading along the footsteps of people returning to their roots.
Uncle Ho's house was in his maternal hometown Hoang Tru, where he was born and spent his childhood with his hard-working mother Hoang Thi Loan.
Returning to the place where the beloved leader of the nation cried when he was born and the peaceful childhood days with his hard-working mother Hoang Thi Loan and his devoted father Nguyen Sinh Sac, each visitor brings with him his own stories. But above all, it is the love and remembrance of the Father of the nation.
Although he is 103 years old this year, Mr. Bui Manh Suc (a tourist from Thai Binh) has just had the opportunity to visit Uncle Ho's hometown for the first time. In the middle of the crowd entering Uncle Ho's maternal home garden in Hoang Tru village, Mr. Suc stopped to look at the surrounding scenery, moved: "Uncle! So after so many years of waiting, I have been able to return here. It truly satisfies my longing."
Ms. Van, one of Mr. Suc's children, said: "My father is a farmer, he has gone through many ups and downs of the country. From the days when the country was still in misery and slavery, thanks to the Party and Uncle Ho, we have achieved independence, freedom, peace and development like today. From the bottom of his heart, he always taught us about his infinite love and gratitude for Uncle Ho. We have longed for it, but because of the long distance, we now have the opportunity to take my father to visit Uncle Ho's homeland."
The students listened attentively to the explanation about Uncle Ho's childhood in his maternal hometown of Hoang Tru.
The story of Mr. Tran Manh Suc is one of countless stories we encountered in the stream of people returning to Kim Lien today. When May comes, each lotus blooming season makes our hearts ache with unceasing longing. In the nostalgia of remembering Uncle Ho with respect and love, everyone longs to return here to offer him their infinite gratitude.
Ms. Ly Thi Pham (former teacher in Lang Son) expressed: “Every time I return to Kim Lien, I feel like I am returning to my roots. In the nostalgia and emotion of remembering Him, we also feel proud as if we are being encouraged and given more strength…”.

If Hoang Tru, his mother's hometown, is where Uncle Ho was born and lived until he was 6 years old with his mother, following his father to the imperial city of Hue, then Sen village, his paternal hometown, is where he spent his childhood from the age of 11 to 16. This was the time when Uncle Ho returned to his hometown with his father after his mother passed away.
Along with Hoang Tru, Sen village recorded the imprints of youth and was also the place that fostered the will and ambition of the young Nguyen Sinh Cung and the young Nguyen Tat Thanh on their journey to find a way to save the nation from misery and slavery later.

About 3 km from Hoang Tru, Sen village, Uncle Ho's paternal hometown, is also bustling with footsteps returning on a May afternoon. Although more than 100 years have passed, the road to Uncle Ho's house is still preserved, preserving its familiar and intimate features. In the minds of visitors from near and far, his image still appears somewhere by the lotus pond, the well, and the alleys of his neighbors. And in the simple, rustic house of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac, it seems as if the young Nguyen Sinh Cung was making tea and listening to his father and famous scholars discuss current events...
All the scenery of Sen village reminds us of a childhood filled with love for our homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, which evokes strong emotions in the hearts of every visitor. Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (a visitor from Hanoi) could not hide her sacred admiration. She sang the song “Uncle Ho - an immense love” by the late musician Thuan Yen to express her feelings.
Ms. Thuy shared: “Coming here, I feel more clearly the greatness in the soul and personality of President Ho Chi Minh. His passionate love for the Vietnamese people in particular and humanity in general, along with his life of dedication, moved me endlessly. The light from his personality and morality has been and is guiding me and the Vietnamese people to constantly strive to build an increasingly prosperous homeland.”
During the pilgrimage to the source, thousands of tourists returned from all over the country with all ages and backgrounds. Nguyen Nhat Tan (student of the National Economics University - Hanoi, from Ha Tinh City) expressed: "As a young party member, a student, I see myself needing to make more efforts in studying and researching to be worthy of the contributions of Uncle Ho as well as the previous generation who have worked hard to build. In particular, studying and following Uncle Ho is the guiding principle that helps me complete my goals in studying as well as in the future ahead."

Saying goodbye to Kim Lien in the sunny summer afternoon, through the images from the flycam in the sky, the picture of Uncle Ho's homeland appears like a map. Rising from the simple thatched roofs and green bamboo hedges is the scene of a prosperous village surrounded by golden fields of ripe rice. In the distance, Chung Son peak stands tall, Dai Hue mountain is green in the middle of an open sky. Like his love and expectation, the homeland and country of Vietnam is growing day by day to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.

And in the cool, clear wind of a May afternoon, the lyrics of the late musician Thuan Yen seemed to echo throughout the land and sky: “Uncle Ho - He is the most passionate love in the hearts of the people and in the hearts of humanity. His whole life was very noble without a trace of privacy. Forever fragrant in the soul of Vietnam…”.
