Binh Trung commune aims to become an advanced new rural commune after the merger.

FROM NEW COMMUNE TO NTM COMMUNE

According to Resolution 1202 of the National Assembly Standing Committee dated September 28, 2024 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Tien Giang province; the entire natural area and population of Huu Dao commune and Duong Diem commune are merged into Binh Trung commune.

According to Chairman of Binh Trung Commune People's Committee Dang Van Nghiep, immediately after the merger, we focused on perfecting the apparatus and building a socio-economic development plan, in which priority was given to implementing the NTM criteria. With the consensus of the people and the close direction of the district, the commune has met 19/19 NTM criteria and has just been officially recognized by the Provincial People's Committee.

Recently, the establishment of growing area codes has helped agricultural products of Binh Trung commune increase their value and expand their consumption markets.

The commune's economic structure is mainly based on agricultural production with main crops such as: coconut, durian, sapodilla, grapefruit and other fruit trees. Notably, the commune has actively coordinated with businesses to build growing area codes to increase product value.

BENTRE Coconut Trading and Production Company Limited has been approved by the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection for a coconut growing area code, with an area of ​​123.93 hectares. At the same time, the commune is coordinating with Vinh Kim Cooperative to prepare documents to build export coconut growing area codes for 4 hamlets, with 117 participating households, with an area of ​​42.9 hectares.

Regarding infrastructure, in 2024, the commune completed 10 rural traffic works, with a total length of nearly 5 km, contributing to increasing the rate of hardening rural traffic roads to meet standards. Irrigation work is also of interest with 6 canals maintained clear and 7 irrigation works have been and are being implemented.

People's quality of life has been significantly improved, with 100% of households using hygienic water, of which 98.92% use clean water from centralized water supply works. Average income per capita has increased, the poverty rate has decreased to 1.22% (according to the multidimensional poverty standard).

According to the assessment of Chau Thanh District People's Committee, Binh Trung commune achieving NTM standards after the merger is the result of a thorough preparation process and synchronous implementation of solutions. "The most important factor is the consensus and participation of the people. We have organized many meetings with the people, collected opinions and promoted the role of the people in building NTM" - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee Nguyen Van Chinh shared.
In 2024, in addition to the budget capital, the commune mobilized hundreds of millions of VND from people to contribute to building infrastructure, especially rural transport and irrigation. Another notable point is that the commune has effectively implemented the construction of a production linkage model, cooperating with businesses and cooperatives to build growing area codes to help the commune's agricultural products increase value and expand consumption markets.

ADVANCED NTM COMMUNE IN THE FUTURE

Sharing about the development orientation in the coming time, comrade Dang Van Nghiep said: “Being recognized as meeting the NTM standards is a gratifying result, but also the starting point for a new development journey. We aim to continue to maintain, consolidate and improve the quality of 19 criteria, striving to build an advanced NTM commune in the next phase”.

According to the 2025 socio-economic development plan, Binh Trung commune will focus on guiding people to take care of fruit gardens, renovate ineffective mixed gardens, and plant new trees with high economic value such as coconut and durian.

At the same time, vocational training classes on science and technology transfer for farmers on planting and propagating durian trees will be opened. In the field of irrigation, the commune will continue to mobilize people to dredge canals, clear the flow of canals to ensure water storage for irrigation in the dry season and implement measures to prevent and combat riverbank and canal erosion.

In particular, the commune will promote the application of information technology in handling administrative procedures, digitally signing 100% of documents when issuing, and continuing to effectively manage administrative documents. At the same time, it will promote and guide people to submit documents and make payments online on the National Public Service Portal, effectively implementing the digital transformation plan for the period 2021 - 2025 and orientation to 2030.

The recognition of Binh Trung as meeting the new rural standards is not only a joy and pride for the cadres and people in the commune, but also a vivid demonstration of the effectiveness of the work of arranging commune-level administrative units associated with building new rural areas in Tien Giang province.
