Launching ceremony in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025

(BD) - On the morning of April 18, at the Provincial Library, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a launching ceremony to respond to the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 and the Binh Dinh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in 2025. Representatives of departments, branches and nearly 100 students of Le Loi Secondary School (Quy Nhon City) attended.

On November 4, 2021, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1862/QD-TTg choosing April 21 every year as Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. This year's Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day carries the message: "Reading culture - Connecting the community", "Entering the era of national growth with books", "Reading books - enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity" clearly demonstrating the importance of developing a reading culture in the current era in the direction of developing science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation in Resolution 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo .

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Pham Ngoc Thai emphasized the importance of developing a reading culture: “Since ancient times, our ancestors have identified reading as a noble cultural trait. Reading and preserving books, forming bookcases and libraries are the way to build, accumulate, form and develop a reading culture. Reading culture enriches the knowledge of each of us. Building and developing a reading culture is an important task to build and develop a culture, the Vietnamese people develop comprehensively, truly becoming a solid spiritual foundation of society, an important endogenous strength to ensure the sustainable development of the country ”.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also launched the Binh Dinh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2025 for primary, secondary and high school students, which will be implemented at schools from now until May 17. The Organizing Committee will receive provincial-level entries at the Provincial Library from May 22 to 31; after grading and awarding prizes at the provincial level, 6 outstanding entries will be selected and sent to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to participate in the final round of the National Contest before July 10.

Within the framework of the event, the Provincial Library also organized many activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, such as: Donating books to school libraries, arranging art books and displaying themed books, quizzes for learning, serving mobile library vehicles... to honor the value of books and spread reading culture in the community.
