No cultural teaching for students during the summer

Specifically, the plan to organize summer activities in 2024 of the Ho Chi Minh City education sector for students of primary, secondary, high schools, multi-level schools, continuing education centers, and vocational education centers focuses mainly on training skills for students; building and developing diverse clubs to attract students to participate.

Notably, the HCM City Department of Education and Training emphasized that it does not organize cultural teaching for students during the summer, only reviewing culture for students with weak academic performance.

Based on the actual situation and current regulations, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City encourages units to proactively develop plans to adjust content, organization scale and appropriate organization methods.

Notably, regarding personnel, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires that "all activities taking place during the summer need to pay attention to assigning cadres, teachers, and supervisors to ensure absolute safety and not affect exam activities."

Summer activities are held from June 1 to August 20. In case educational institutions are not on summer break at the time of summer opening, summer activities will still be held and concentrated in school space.

During the summer, students are taught swimming and anti-drowning skills.

With the theme "Practical actions, prioritizing resources for children", the 2024 summer activities focus on developing skills for children. Activities include: propaganda, education on traditions, history, culture, ethics, lifestyle, law; entertainment, skill training, improving physical and mental health for children; enhancing awareness activities on traffic safety and environmental protection; developing children's rights; volunteer activities...

In addition, organizing popular swimming, preventing drowning, preventing fires and accidents, and providing guidance on anti-drowning skills, safety when using social networks, self-protection, etc. are proposed to improve physical and mental health and ensure safety for children.

Regarding funding, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training estimates the summer activity budget for districts and Thu Duc City at VND40,000/child; for districts at VND47,000/child. Accordingly, Thu Duc City, districts and counties will allocate budgets to organize knowledge enrichment classes, teaching talents, foreign languages, sports playgrounds... for children at cultural accommodation areas in the area.

Summer operating expenses of departments, branches, and Thu Duc City and districts in Ho Chi Minh City are spent within the 2024 budget target and mobilize additional social resources.
