Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology conducts comprehensive admission and converts different scores.

The 2025 admission score of the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) includes academic performance plus priority points, on a 100-point scale and converted according to a different formula.

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) will only recruit by 2 methods, in which the school reserves up to 99% of the total recruitment quota with different calculation and conversion methods.

5 candidates are considered, with no limit on the number of applications.

Explaining further about the subjects and conditions for admission, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Thang - Head of the school's training department - said that this year the school will consider admitting 5 groups of candidates:

Subject 1: Candidates with the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam.

Subject 2: Candidates who do not have the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam.

Subject 3: candidates who graduated from high school abroad.

Subject 4: in case candidates use international admission certificates.

Subject 5: case of selecting candidates for the school's international transfer program to Australia/USA/New Zealand.

"Candidates can register an unlimited number of applications. Admission is conducted according to the principle of Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment exam scores and the high school graduation exam results used in admission must be the results of 2025.

For the 2025 high school graduation exam, candidates will take the exam according to the prescribed format (and according to the candidate's choice).

If a candidate has more than one admission subject (mentioned above) or combination, the highest admission score among the admission scores of each subject/combination will be used as the candidate's admission score," Mr. Thang added.

What is the admission score and score conversion scale?

The school has announced the admission formula and score scale applicable for the 2025 admission season. Quality assurance threshold (according to the total admission score): 50 points (100-point scale)

Subject 1: Candidates with the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam:

[Ability score] = [Ability assessment score with Math coefficient × 2] / 15 (1500 scale converted to 100 scale)

[Converted high school graduation score] = [Total score of 3 high school graduation exam subjects in the combination] / 3 × 10

[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 grades of subjects in the group] × 10

In case a candidate in grade 10 lacks 1 subject in the admission combination, and changes subjects from grade 11, the candidate will only have 8 score columns compared to a normal candidate (with 9 score columns).

Subject 2: Candidates without results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam:

[Ability score] = [Converted high school graduation score] × 0.75

[Converted high school graduation score] = [Total score of 3 high school graduation exam subjects in the combination] / 3 × 10

[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 grades of subjects in the group] × 10

In case a candidate in grade 10 lacks 1 subject in the admission combination, and changes subjects from grade 11, the candidate will only have 8 score columns compared to a normal candidate (with 9 score columns).

Subject 3: Candidates graduating from foreign high schools:

[Ability score] = [Converted high school score]

[Converted high school graduation score]:

• Candidates from countries with graduation exams: convert candidates' exam scores to a 100-point scale.

• Candidates from countries that do not have high school graduation exams: [Converted high school graduation score] = [Converted high school study score]

[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 grades of subjects in the group], converted to a 100-point scale.

Note: The year of the candidate's high school graduation exam must not be more than 2 years from the year of application. In case the candidate lacks subjects in the admission combination, the candidate will have fewer score columns than a normal candidate (with 9 score columns).

Subject 4: Candidates using international admission certificates:

[Ability score] = [International admission certificate score]

[Converted high school graduation score] = [Total score of 3 high school graduation exam subjects in the combination] / 3 × 10

[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 grades of subjects in the group] × 10

[International Admissions Certificate Score] is calculated according to the table (see details here).

The year of taking the international admission certificate exam of the candidate must not be more than 2 years from the year of application. In case the candidate in grade 10 lacks 1 subject in the admission combination, and changes the subject from grade 11, the candidate will only have 8 score columns compared to normal candidates (with 9 score columns).

In case of candidates graduating from high school abroad, [Converted high school graduation score] and [Converted high school study score] are the same as subject 3.

Subject 5: Candidates for the school's Australia/USA/New Zealand international transfer program:

[Ability score] = [Interview score] × 0.5 + [Essay score] × 0.3 + [Converted English certificate score] × 0.2

[Converted high school graduation score] = [Total score of 3 high school graduation exam subjects in the combination] / 3 × 10

[Converted high school grades] = [Average of grade 10, 11, 12 grades of subjects in the group] × 10

[Converted English certificate score] is calculated according to the following table:

Note:

Candidates' [interview score] must be 70/100 points or higher.

In case a candidate in grade 10 lacks 1 subject in the admission combination, and changes subjects from grade 11, the candidate will only have 8 score columns compared to a normal candidate (with 9 score columns).

In case of candidates graduating from high school abroad, [Converted high school graduation score] and [Converted high school study score] will be calculated as prescribed in Subject 3.

Priority points for achievements (other achievements, culture - sports - arts, social activities): maximum 10 points.

Priority points for target areas: maximum 9.17 points, scale of 100 (converted from maximum 2.75 points, scale of 30 according to the ministry's regulations).

The total priority points converted when exceeding 10 will be taken as 10.

Candidates with IELTS certificate ≥ 5.0/ TOEFL iBT ≥ 46/ TOEIC listening - reading ≥ 460 and speaking - writing ≥ 200 will be converted to the corresponding score of English subject in high school graduation exam score and high school academic performance for admission combinations using English subject >> Conversion table of English subject in high school transcript and exam score.
